Chris shipley Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I'm sure hope younger generations get into the hot rod era. Just seems like us guys in the 50s and older Is what we have. Of course our parents that had them 6 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Unfortunately I'm afraid it is at it height right now, it will always be here but I don't think it will be as big as it is right now and the cars will change also. The younger generation has different ideas then us old timers. 7 Quote

DragCat Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 When I go to the track or a car show I'm just happy to see the younger generation into cars , at least the hobby is still alive no matter what 7 Quote
Dtret Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Half the weight, half the rotating mass, readily available and double the horsepower. It’s not a matter of what are they thinking it’s what are we thinking?? But I still love my 70’s bathroom color boats. 5 Quote
714024SPEED Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 New "muscle cars" have lots of HP and AC but not the same driving experience. It's not the same when you see a person tuning a car on a laptop and I'm pulling plugs and changing jets lol. 5 2 Quote
Glen Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I see it and mention it all the time… drive past a group of teenagers in either Monte and 8 out of 10 times no one reacts. I pointed this out to Amy a couple times as we drove to and from the Showfield in Carlisle. When I was a little kid/adolescent/teenager, I would damn near break my neck to turn toward the sound of a lumpy cam, loud exhaust or squealing tires to see what it was. Still do. Different generations indeed. Although it is refreshing to see kids at car shows who genuinely enjoy the “old man cars”. 5 Quote
Marks71 Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I think between Glen and Steve they both nailed it. Our cars today are about the same age as a Model T was when our cars were rolling off the assembly line.I see younger people at car shows and events, which gives me hope, but nowhere near in the amounts of us that went when we were that age. Even accounting for inflation, the hobby is a lot more expensive than it was 30+ years ago too. I found mine last year with a bunch of documentation because the original owner had passed and his son apparently had no use for it. The times they are a changin. 4 Quote

Scott S. Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I get a kick out of these younger "enthusiasts"..... When they take a look, they start suggesting LS swaps. MORE HORSEPOWER !! I tell them that my tire budget isn't that big. Quote

If I do another I'm going LS. Yea I hate technology but to find someone that understands carbs, jetting, vacuum is getting harder if they can't use a laptop and look for codes 🙃 2 Quote

This website and group as we know it wouldn't be possible without computers. Nor would cars be possible that come from the factory that can can go 200+mph, run sub-10 second 1/4 mile times, that are safer, more fuel efficient, steer, stop, and do everything better than the old cars were ever capable of even dreaming about. 5 Quote
S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 never saw a need for all that foolishness. to each his own my friend. 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Joe is correct most of us would never know each other or ever have met without computers. I can do without 9 second cars and bikes coming out of the factory. But the top fuel, funny cars and pro stock cars are cool. A lot of good have come out of computers but also a lot of bad things and evil too. 1 Quote
S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 and nothing safer comes at 200 mph but I could be wrong😉 1 Quote
