MCfan Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1174909997108715/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks Here's an apparently unmolested Autumn Gold, BBC '70 with 61K miles that just listed in Baxter, MN for $17,500! In one of the 12 photos you can see a For Sale sign in the back seat with an asking price of $25,000 so the seller must need to sell it soon by listing on FB MP for $17,500. It's difficult to tell from the small photos, but the body appears to be straight and rust free with decent paint and vinyl top plus rally wheels. Also the interior appears to be in relatively good condition. Non-AC car. Status of mechanicals is unknown but it may not take much to bring this one back to a really nice looking survivor. I have owned two Autumn Gold '70s so I'm partial to the color. In the summer, I live just 25 miles north of Baxter and go there at least weekly if anyone is seriously interested and wants me to check it out - just let me know. The NHRA drag races at BIR (Brainerd International Raceway) are this weekend, August 16-18, and that's right beside Baxter. Possibly why he listed it on FB now. 3 Quote

S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 really is great buy for the money. medical bills are the only reason I can't look into it. very nice indeed! Quote
714024SPEED Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Looks like a good solid, unmolested car. 2 Quote
RON T Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Looks like a good project car or driver. Suprised not showing more rust considering where it is located.. 1 Quote
420ponies Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Not too bad for a Minnesota car. Dig the mud flaps. They don't salt the roads around there. Is that a power bucket seat? I can't get an up close view. I wish he had some better up close pictures. A good start to a nice ride! And what the thing on the heater hoses? Quote

I agree on the "lots of shelf wear" Almost makes you wonder if the mileage is correct. Regarding A/C Delete...... Not an AC delete, that car never had AC so it was not a conversion by the owner and since AC was an option and not standard equipment it would not be an AC Delete. rob 1 Quote
MC-71 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 I think that Monte is a winner. Wouldn’t take much to bring that baby back. Really a fair price. Quote

You’re right about the photos, too far away to get a good zoom. I noticed that canister on the heater hoses too.I tried to get a closer look but can’t figure its purpose. Assuming it has no real rust issues it looks like a lot of cleaning and detailing might get someone a presentable car to start with. Definitely needs more and better photos. Quote
S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 the thing on the heater hoses is a coolant preheater. like a block heater to pre warm the coolant in cold temps! 1 1 Quote
S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 a/c delete. sorry Rob I misspoke. another item I have not come across in my many travels. just like manual trans first. very cool indeed Quote

S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 mostly aftermarket. but possibly a factory accessory block/freeze plug heaters were. we see them a lot on our older tractors, combines, and dozers. I still have 2 units in our machine shed at the farm. I didn't catch it originally, but when 420ponies mentioned it I relooked and low and behold I'm pretty sure that's what it is.. some old school stuff. Quote
420ponies Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Now that you mention that, my Grandmother had one on her '65 Chevy Belair station wagon , along with a block heater she would plug in during the cold Minnesota winters.I stayed with her 1 winter, and man, cold, cold ,cold !! Zero degrees was a good day! Quote
S.Maug Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 they work very well in the sub zero states Quote
Scott S. Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Those heaters actually had a pump and check valve in them. They'd circulate coolant throughout the entire car if you left the controls set. Warn insde and engine. Great for Canadian winters. 1 Quote
MN Monte Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Hi Dennis, If you happen to be going to Baxter this week and have time to check it out I would appreciate it! I live in Northfield and have a place in Longville. Unfortunately I am not heading up that way for a few weeks yet. Excited to know more about this car but I haven't reached out to the individual selling as I just came across your post. Quote
