Steven Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 My 71 has 8" Corvette rally wheels with a 4'' backspacing according to the wheel code AZ, the car has 275/60/15 on it but they rub on the outside of the tires, if anyone has trimmed the rear wheel openings are you using a grinding wheel or a cutting wheel or rolling the inner lip. Thanks in advance. Quote

Thanks in advance. There are many thoughts/experience on this. When I put my drag radials on they rubbed making turns at 30 mph. Some will say drag racing is a straight line, but I still have to turn off the track 🤣 I trimmed/cut mine back a tad. If you cut remember your exposing new bare metal, treat it to avoid rust . 3 1 Quote
420ponies Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 If you're looking for a set of rally wheels to help you out, I have a pair of 8" rims with the 5" offset you need. I'm running a pair with 5" backspacing and 275/60 /15" Nitto drag radials (diamondback redlines) .That back spacing is the wrong way on these Monte Carlo's. I would not want you shave your fenders to run this set-up. 4 Quote
Marks71 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I’ve got the same tire size and wheel on mine. That’s the way to go. 2 Quote

Steven Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 I just crawled under the car to look at the inside clearance, the previous owner put 3" exhaust all the way to the tailpipes so I have no room to go inward, so I will drop back to a 255/60/15 4 Quote
