JP_AstroMan Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 So I upgraded my failing master with a Wilwood. As you can see by the photo, this particular Wilwood doesn't handle the angle. It shares fluid from front to back and if I fill the front to proper level, fluid runs out the rear...even with the seal and cover on. So Wilwood is saying that '72 Montes shouldn't have the angled booster/master and I have the wrong booster. I'm fairly certain I removed the original booster and master and it was at the same angle. Right? Quote
jft69z Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I put a small screw with a sealing washer in the divider, to stop the brake fluid from running to the rear chamber. 4 Quote

JP_AstroMan Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Did you tap the hole or let the screw tap the aluminum? As far as a sealing washer, I guess copper or plastic but not rubber, right? Quote
Scott S. Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 It's not a "pressure bearing" seal, so I can't see that rubber would be an issue. 1 Quote

Dtret Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Nice easy fix. If I remember correctly some rubber do not play nice with brake fluid, so pick wisely. 4 Quote

Scott S. Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 I guess the bright side is that working on the bottom of the engine could be done anywhere..... Fluid changes and such. 3 Quote

420ponies Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 I sure hope you got your master cylinder working correctly. I know it seems a very odd angle, but weren't some other cars the same way? I know my '71 Skylark was the same angle. I'd like to know how you made out on " the fix".🙂 Quote
kpcsgasp Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 the screw sounds like a good fix. but for the record the guy from wildwood is wrong. 5 Quote
