420ponies Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Looks pretty nice to me. A little over the top on the add on's ,but still a good representation of a Monte Carlo. What is with the replacement ID number? Is this considered a salvage car? Quote
willie Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I agree with Jim, Nice looking 72 but what is the Replacement ID number??? I never seen that before!!! Quote
Dtret Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 When I bought my 71 SS the vin was rusted away ( ironically no other rust on the car) and the state of California reissued a vin tag and riveted it to the door jamb. Replacement tags are installed by the state after a thorough inspection of the car. And the number matches all docs. 4 Quote
Marks71 Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 When I saw that replacement tag, rust was the first thing that came to mind. They sure didn’t hold back on photos. I looked at all the photos quite closely, zoomed a lot. Underneath is a bit crusty and I saw some things that were a bit concerning. The other thing I noticed while zooming is the vinyl top is padded and I noticed an area where it is beyond the trim. Otherwise it has nice curb appeal. There’s a gold one out there with a very similar paint configuration. 1 Quote
