It does say it was restored to its “ original classic white and black vinyl top”. I love word play so does that mean the paint and top are original?? I guess the rest of the car isn’t, black rims, chrome tips. Nice car though. 4 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Yea people use the restored term to loosely, some think a paint job is a restored car or modified is restored. I'm my humble opinion a restored car is one completely taken apart and put back to original. My car had a lot of new parts and been painted but far from restored. And in the words of Forrest Gump, that's all I got to say about that! 5 Quote
S.Maug Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 I agree Steve, Restored is nut and bolt, fully taken apart, Everything. And reassembled with everything available new. rebuilt when not available new or NOS, I mean everything as if it was assembly line run. beautiful thing. Bloo 402 was purchased by me from Texas restored, 32.000 mile 70. Boy It's nice but still see where they went the distance, but many areas that we would say [censored] GUYS. I'm really happy with the car though. gives me room to make it mine as health won't allow my obsessive-compulsive manner to physically or monetarily do. If Sin City was as "Restored" I'd be happy to finish with Dennis's pieces and encase in climate-controlled glass case. As I often say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" , Everyone deserves to be thoroughly Happy with His or Her Effort, Level, and Money spent on their pride and joy. A chicken in every pot, and a First-Generation Monte Carlo In every garage! Quote
Canuck Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 I think there’s “restored” and “frame off restored”. Neither of mine are frame off but many would consider both as restored. If restored meant every nut and bolt then nearly all of those attending the meets qualify for the Best Non-Restored award. 😁 2 Quote

Partially restored works in that case because everything you did was restoration quality. This is a hot button issue for me, always has been even before I was a club member or Monte owner. I try to separate between restored and rebuilt. Most of the time both ways awesome work is done and I don’t and won’t degrade it. But TO ME there’s a difference and most don’t agree with me and I’m ok with that. 4 Quote
S.Maug Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 My last input on "what restored meat" was wrong, I really had no right to weigh in on a subject that I am clearly not schooled on. I want to make clear that I am a novice who has no right to explain something that I didn't know anything about. Open mouth insert foot, terrible fault of mine fellow club members. I will endeavor to not do it again. Quote
Dtret Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 It’s all subjective to one opinion. There really is no right or wrong answer. 5 Quote
