Blueheeler Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I'm having an issue with the drive side windshield wiper hitting/ rubbing the underside of the hood. As far as I know I have the correct wiper arm, it's installed properly but it just sits to high. If I press downward which causes the spring in the wiper arm to expand it'd clear. Problem is after I remove pressure it pops right back up. ANY one got any thoughts or been down this road? 1 Quote
Rob Peters Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 My guess would be hood adjusted too far toward the rear. If fenders or hood has ever been removed it may be an adjustment issue. rob 2 Quote
1970mcss Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 The wiper arm looks a bit taller or different than the ones on my car. I took a couple pictures. The first in the driver's side. My other thought is that maybe the transmission is out to far but I'm not sure if there is an adjustment. 2 Quote
Blueheeler Posted August 28, 2024 Author Posted August 28, 2024 Paul, never gave that a thought. That is a possibility as the wiper motor has been replaced. Change out was a simple unbolt the old, bolt in the new but I never compared shaft lenght. I'll see if I can add some shimes & gain any clearance. THANKS for your imput. 1 Quote
1970mcss Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I hope that fixes the issue, good luck and let us know. Quote
Jeff Dodson Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 I have the very same issue, although I would think mine is original and needs to be changed. They run slow Quote

I think slow is the nature of the beast as mine are slow as well. I read a while back that someone was working on an intermittent adjuster for the wipers. anyone know about this? 1 Quote

You can raise the back of the hood slightly upward by tilting the hood brackets up. Quote
alain boileau Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 🙂Yes tilting the hood bracket would give you more room If it is slightly touching. Also make sure wiper arm is seated properly Alain🙂 1 Quote
