One of my brother in laws bought a 70 in the mid 70s when he totaled his cherry 68 caprice I really liked it, I almost bought a 72 in the mid 80s but really didn't trust the seller and thought he was asking to much. Always did like them though so does my daughter.

Always liked them, but fell in love with First Gens in 1987 at 17 years old when I snuck out the ‘70 my Dad worked on for a friend. Told myself I’d own one someday…

Wasn’t actively looking to purchase as I was still doing my homework on options, documentation, etcetera but acquired my ‘70 in October of 2020 as an early retirement gift to myself when I found it listed online.  I honestly didn’t expect it to check out as well as it did, thinking I’d have to look at dozens of cars over a few years before I found “the one” in time for retirement.

Joined the FGMCC shortly thereafter and procured the ‘71 in January of 2022…cuz I’m an idiot who just had to have two Super Sports. And the rest - as they say - is history.

I was 18 when I got my Monte as a graduation gift. My Dad and I went down South and looked at many cars and brought back to Ohio my one and only Monte...41 years ago.

I was 53 it was a little over a year after my wife passed and when I realized the 64 chevelle I had was trash. Got rid of it and bought the Monte.

Nice purchase

Same here I was 10 when my dad worked on a neighbor's Monte. Fell in love with them.

Got my first on at age 17. It was a very rough 70 named "The war Pig". There has been a first Gen Monte in the family since 1973.

It was Dec 4,  1978 , I was 14 years old when I inherited my brother's car.  On December 2 , I identified his body in the morgue along with 3 of his buddies . Two days later, my parents gave me his car. Looking back, I'm thankful that it didn't occur in his car, they were in a 78 Trans am built by the Buddy Baker race team.

Michael, I always knew it had been your brother's car but never know the circumstances of his death.  He would be proud of the memorial to him  you have made of that Beautiful Monte.

I had just turned 20 in September of 1970.  I was just back from Southeast Asia and had months of flight pay, hazardous duty pay and combat pay, all tax free and wanted to buy a Chevelle.  Being the end of the 70 model year they had no Chevelles and the new 71 models won not be released foe a code weeks so I had to "SETTLE" for a Monte.  Forever glad I had to "SETTLE" for a Monte!

19 years old in 1996. I saw my 1970 Monte Carlo from 100 ft away and really liked the look of it. I made a comment of how nice it looked and the owner heard me. He told me it was for sale and the rest is history. Still have it 28 years later.

Always had a hot rod, started at 16 bought my chevelle. Started to work in a shop that same year, a few months later the boss brings in a 70 SS Monte. i never seen one before but i loved it!!! As a matter of fact, i had to tune her up and as i was hanging over the drivers side to change the plugs i asked the boss what this tank was for, he told me it was the air pump for the rear shocks. At that time it was to me just wasted weight!! LOL But swore i would eventually get one. So being i had hot rods my entire life, i said when i retire that's what i wanted to do, restore Montes.

So the answer to the question as of when my first Monte was purchased, when i was 52!!!

PS the Monte from my boss was NOT his, he drove a 70 SJ Grand Prix, and i love that car also!!! To me classy also!!!
