black07ss Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 What manufacturer of shocks are you using. I'm currently not in the market for coil overs. I'm considering KYB or Blistein. Quote
420ponies Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I've ran KYB's and very nice ride with those. Joe T is running Blister shocks on his '72. Since the new BBC in mine , I have a complete set of UMI coil-overs for my Monte Carlo (sitting on my garage floor waiting to be installed). I have ran KYB's upfront with the SBC and air shocks in the rear with 25psi (so they work) along with the Moog Vari -Rate coil springs. Interested in those springs? or the air shocks ? the front shocks have been on my car for 5 yrs, no complaints, rear air shocks 16yrs, no issues either. Quote
Marks71 Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I chose the Bilsteins. Check with Jegs, they had a smoking deal on them for awhile. I painted mine black. 1 Quote
Chevy Dave Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 My experience with Bilsteins on both cars and trucks has been to harsh of a ride. I am using KYB Gas Adjust all around on my 62 Impala SS and on the front of my 70 MC SS 454. I feel they are a good compromise between ride and handling. Quote
Scott S. Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Hey Bob, Started out with KYBs..... Front shock drained out in less than a year. Switched to Bilsteins for the front and they've been good so far. They are a bit firmer than the KYBs as well, but I don't find them overly rough. '70 with a 350 cid. Scott. Quote
black07ss Posted September 5, 2024 Author Posted September 5, 2024 Thanks for the info, I'm currently looking for just the rear. Quote
Chevy Dave Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 After using the KYBs for almost 25 years on several vehicle's, I have never had a failure. On my Mc SS, when I bought it, it had Monroe relacement rear air shocks. I have been running 25 psi in them for a level ride. I have almost completed my restoration of the auto level control and soon will use this for inflation. Quote
Blake350 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 kyb gas adjust with moog cargo coils in the back all around good combo Quote
