So, John Principato (MonteZ20) came to visit today and before he left, he mentions that SS396 has sport mirrors available. I mentioned that I never heard of it, so we look on the site & sure enough, they're there!

Look for yourself, available separately, or as a set.

Great find John, Thank you!!!

It seems like it's also available for 70-72 Chevelle's too, same part number it appears.

(He laughed and said, "Watch, everyone at Carlisle is going to have 2 mirrors on their car next year"), 😄.

Looks like a nice product, but by the time you color match and paint the mirrors you will have a lot of money tied up in the project.

Since my car is a Custom, it had the correct left side one anyhow, but I did get a right side one from bulletmirror.com at the time. It is a F-body one, but the mounting style is correct, and overall quality is just fine. (I had the paint here in stock, so it didn't cost me anything extra really except time). It's hit & miss sometimes if they're available from them, but as of today they do have the set, or right side available separately.

A bit cheaper than SS396, but these are used mirrors that they refurbish (at least mine was). They also get the F-body mirror to fit with a special 3D printed base gasket, which is the entire key to making it work on our cars, and they don't sell it separately (or answer emails asking about them). I still spent a fair amount of time reshaping the gasket & mirror pedestal to fit better on the Monte too.

If the SS396 ones are brand new, and fit properly right off the bat, it's not a bad thing at all.

I think I would have to change the passenger side mirror glass. I don’t like the wording.

The wording is there to remind you that the guy you just beat out of the lights isn't really that far behind you. ;)

I wonder if they're similar to the '74-'77 Gran Prix sport mirrors ???

Good find and info 🤘I like the look (have sport mirrors on the Cougar) but don't think I'll put it on my to do list

I think on my 75 Cougar it had the remote cable for the passenger side on the dash. That makes more sense to me

That cracked me up 🤣 I raced a hellcat in the suburban one time, tree'd him. Looked back "laughing I got you", Looked back again, smile I still got ya", went to look back the third time and he was passing me 🤣

$7.99 at Walmart in the ‘Bath & Beauty’ section and two drywall screws. You’re welcome…
