I’d seen that listed for months at just over 100k. Then for the last month or so it was down to I believe 79k.

Yeah, I thought it looked familiar...... Not many dark green with white vinyl tops running around.

That's your color Mark!  Boy, I wonder where the bidding will go on this. Looks nice!

I think that's the 2nd pro Mark buying another Monte comment 🤣

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy another.............but if I see one I'll post it in the normal Monte thread so I can get everyone's knowledgable opinions .

Also to let everyone know I'm interested........Years ago when I was still a lurker ended up bidding against a member at Mecum. That could have been awkward 🤣 We both got outbid by a flipper

About 10 years ago one of my friends bought a Camaro at Mecum without road testing  it. After purchasing it,  he discovered several things wrong with the engine.

You're saying they are wanting 79K for that car?  I would have a few questions on this one, unless I am seeing things wrong.  Just some things I noticed... Grill Emblem fading at top, side view mirrors nonmatching, grill peeling, water spots in chrome and paint, Chipped paint passenger fender extension, hood appears bent on passenger side, driver side fender extension appears to have dent in the top, passenger fender paint chipped, front bumper tweaked, bucket seat back panel faded and scratched up.  I am sure I missed some things.  The only reason I bring all of these things up is if they are looking to get 79K for it these are the noticeable things and the thing is these are things that would be correctable if they wanted to correct them and then ask big money for the car.

I hope it commands every last dollar and then some.

I totally agree. Just not from me.

Pretty nice car, but wouldn't think it could be a AACA first place car. Though it was 10 years ago.

Mirrors are pretty tacky.

Here's what the latest Hagerty Valuation Tool shows for a 71 SS:

#1 $76400

#2 $55900

#3   $39200

I don't see it as a #1 or a #2 maybe a #3

My 70 SS is nicer than that and I consider it as a #2.

I don't care to much for Mecum, to many reserve price cars.

Ive seen both sides of the coin at Mecum and BJ.....overpriced and wow somebody got a great deal

I'll start off by saying it is a very nice Monte and someone would be proud to own it. Is it $80k nice? I'm not so sure. As Rob pointed out it has some wear but still overall a nice car. A lot of it is TLC stuff that could be corrected without much hassle. The bend in the hood would be a concern for me as it may be hard to correct without hurting the paint. This may be in the $60k range at auction.

Im going to be working a few days of that show - will be nice to see it in person

Sorry about the pic size and my phone camera quality.  1 cracked lens really skews it.  This car sits decidedly nose up.  Driver quality paint.

Thanks for posting those. It will be interesting to see the bids on this one.

To me ,it appears to be a flipper. Why would you not detail the vehicle before bringing it to auction. ? As soon as I look into the engine bay, immediately the brake booster and master cylinder catches my attention. Then missing the stovepipe and manifold assembly for the air cleaner. At least an air compressor is there, it too could stand a good cleaning  for that COIN !!!

You'd think at that price they'd at least be able to have matching mirrors.

I believe this is an older restoration.  The car show awards were from 2012. That may explain the paint.  The other thing Id never seen before was the top. It was a very pale, like faded mint green. I would have assumed white or dk green or black on that car.
