Does anyone know the production numbers built in the US for the First Generation Monte's broke down by year?

What about SS cars?

What about comparisons to total Chevelles and Chevelle SS cars?

Isn't the '72 SS Monte Carlo known as the "Custom" ?

Not necessarily but Nathan was asking 3 different questions. lol.

So if there are three times as many Chevelles on the road as Monte Carlos, why are the Chevelles worth more?  The Montes are rarer and better looking!

It's probably not 3 to 1 any more due to the fact probably more chevelles have been wrecked but a lot of people don't like montes because of the size. Personally I call the Chevelle a poor man's monte 😅

The Monte was never intended to be a performance car, it was marketed as a midsize luxury car. That’s why they made so few of the “ SS “ cars. But since the basically had everything to do it, why not rip out a few. If you go with the total number of Monte’s built vs the chevelle/ Malibu that will tell the story. There are over 3 times as many SS chevelles now vs actual production. The same thing will happen to the Monte SS. Just give it time.

So the next time someone shows you a 72 Monte SS 454 just smile and say "sure".

But the '72 "Customs " are showing up more than before! Hey now, I've seen one of those in person ('72 Monte SS 454) ,and there was no way to show/tell the guy it wasn't. I even showed him my option sheet for '72   "where's the SS Monte Carlo".  I just smiled and said they couldn't fit it in the write-up!

When counting Chevelle production numbers, you have to remember that base models, 4 doors, wagons, and El Caminos are included....

I've yet to see a 4 door Monte, never mind a wagon version. ;)

It's those "Cadillac" tail lights that make all the difference. ;)
