Kevin Wiles Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 3 questions. Are they the same for 10 bolt or 12 bolt? I heard they are not the same. What other cars would interchange? (other than the obvious 68-72 a body) And does anyone have a set for sale? (10 bolt for now) Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 only difference is the boxed lowers for the 68-72 kevin Quote
Mike 57 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I will look after work, I have a set of uppers and lowers from a 12 bolt you can have for the shipping if they work and I think they do. Quote
Kevin Wiles Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 look at this site, it says they're different http://www.leverfamilysite.com/Rear_Upper_10_12_bolt_Differences.htm Quote
Ian Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Kevin the difference is that some 12 bolt uppers need the notch to clear the housing. If you are looking for ones for the new project I would say find 12 bolt stock ones or any of the aftermarket ones. Most of the aftermarket ones are already made to clear the housing on a 12 bolt. I know the BMR ones I have say you may need to grind them a little to fit some 12 bolts. Quote
Kevin Wiles Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 so a 12 bolt will fit a 10 bolt but not the other way around right? Quote
Ian Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Yes and no, you could grind a 10 bolt arm to fit, but the 12 bolt also has a reinforcement plate on it... Quote
Kevin Wiles Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 i'm confused. i have the 10 bolt rear...., mike57 is offering me 12 bolt arms....... so that works perfect right? the reinforcement plate you're talking about is made into the 12 bolts upper control arms correct? plus the 12 bolts upper control arms have extra clearance.... so 12 bolt uppers on a 10 bolt seems like a go. am I right? thanks, kevin Quote
