Astro Blue with Dark Blue Vinyl Top - aka Blueberry

One of the other cars I bought this spring is a 1970 Astro Blue with a dark blue vinyl top.  It looks like maybe one of the club members at the Eastern Meet had one.  How hard is it to get the dark blue vinyl top material for these cars?

BTW, that isn't the car I bought.  That is just one I found on the web for reference.  See below for my car.

It goes under the wrench here in a month or so.  I'm picking up a rebuilt transmission on Monday and I have a fresh 350 I can mate to it.  I'll do all the brakes and undercarriage work to get it driving and stopping.  I'll have to find another right front fender for it.

I've decided to call this one Blueberry!

It is an AC car also just like my green car - aka Pickle.  When I get the mechanics dialed in great, I'll do the interior and then the exterior.  They should be restored to their former glory in a couple of years!  Then I'm going to work 'Ol Blue - my original 1970 from High School.  I'm thinking that one may go into a real custom style!

You certainly do have a good plan in place for your restoration . Don't forget to post many pictures along the way. I will look forward to following your restoration progress . I also will be looking forward to seeing your ideas on customizing your high school ride (1970)

Besides checking on the dark blue vinyl top, I will need a right front fender.  Does any company make a good reproduction one?

Check with Jared (or several other of the "hoarders" lol)..... He's probably got an original that'll fit a lot easier.

“Blueberry”?! Guess I’ve never thought of it that way … 😄

But … that is the color combo of my ‘70 here in FL! Astro Blue is a ‘70 only color (along with Autumn Gold).

When I bought it in 2010 and had it shipped to FL, I actually thought it had a black vinyl top to go with the black bucket interior but a couple months later I decided to scrub the top clean and discovered it was actually dark blue! It’s original and I’ve cleaned it annually since.
I’ve tried lots of different products to make it shine but Beyond Black by Surf City Garage was the very best. Lots of places, including Walmart, used to sell it but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere for quite awhile now.

That is a stunningly beautiful car!  Wow!  I can't wait until I get mine finished.
