jft69z Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I tried 3 different AMD rear bumpers, all terrible. Got mine rechromed instead 2 Quote
Canuck Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 My rear bumper I got for my 1970 Monte from OPGI in 2017 (made by CHL) fit a lot better than I expected. The chrome is good but not a points winning car show type job. 3 Quote
Chevy Dave Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I purchased a DynaChrome bumper from The Filling Station for my 62 Impala 13 years ago. Excellent quality and has held up very well. 1 Quote
Chevy Dave Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I think it was Dynacorn, but I am not sure. 1 Quote
Michael Boyte Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Tri-city plating in Elizabethton Tennessee has done several bumpers for us, We were always satisfied with their work. However, when we had Paul's Plating in Erie plate all of our Trim, we had them replate the bumpers as well. Original bumpers is the way to go, if at all possible. Just have them replated, therefore the fitment should be dead on. 3 Quote
420ponies Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Purchased both of mine Thru Leo Konick (Konicks Klassics) here in our parts resources page. I think he's getting them through Canada ? Good fitment and nice chrome. Give him a shout. Quote
willie Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Like Joe had gotten one repop, couldn't get it lined up right. So i now get them rechromed. 1 Quote
Leghome Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I put a repop on my 72 and the fitment was terrible the chrome leaves a lot to be desired also the chrome is very thin where the nichol is actually showing i n a couple of places 1 Quote
Michael Boyte Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I would only go with the repop when there is no other option. With original, you know the fitment is going to be correct. The more adjustments you make on a bumper, The greater the chance of scratching a nice paint job, which now becomes much more expensive than a bumper ! 😂 4 Quote
1970mcss Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I also used Tri-city as Mike did. I hit a deer, and they were able to straighten it out and re-chromed it. Looks like new. The total back in 2019 was 475.00 plus 80.00 shipping 1 Quote
71SSclone Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 I have a friend that gets a bunch of bumpers rechromed at once. I gave him my rear bumper. We will see how it turns out. 1 Quote
Jared Richey Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Chrome has gotten out of sight. Tri city is up to what places like Paul's and Advance used to Charge. They are probably astronomical now. Concord plating in NC did a good job on my 59 Impala bumper. Tri City wanted like $1200. They did it for 700. 1 Quote

All of their equipment is rather new if you have any issues, they are quick to correct it , they did a fantastic job for us and was somewhat local for me at the time 👍 2 Quote
jft69z Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I tried to get info and pricing from Tri-City at the time I needed my bumpers done, but had trouble getting someone to return my calls. After a few attempts, I decided to move on and found a place in Erie, Pa. - "Advanced Custom Chrome". The owner, Chris is a straight shooter and easy to work with. I did have a minor issue on one part and he took care of it immediately, no excuses or drama. Not cheap, but they do top notch work, plus it was within driving distance for me, which saved shipping to & from the facility. https://advancedcustomchrome.com/ I almost forgot, one of the times I needed to go out there was outside of their normal business hours, as my work schedule wasn't good . He invited me to his house to drop the stuff off, and then brought the parts to the shop with him on Monday to get worked on. Customer service... 5 Quote
alain boileau Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 🙂Up here in Ontario we have Cambridge Custom Chrome.Very good to deal with. Beautiful work .They also pick up and deliver Give you a quote you decide Alain🙂 Quote
mon-tss Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 The front repop bumpers are better than the back ones. Back just isn't made right. fits poorly. Front not really bad at all. 2 Quote
alain boileau Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 🙂If you can always better to save your original bumpers. The fit is a guaranty since they came of the car But chrome is crazy money now. What to do? Alain🙂 Quote
Michael Boyte Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I would say, if you are wanting to rechrome a bumper. Give Concord Plating a call . They did some work for me a few years ago and I was well pleased with them. Jarod just posted he had them to plate a bumper, Tri-city wanted $1400 . Concord Plating did the job for $700 and he was well pleased with it. Quote

Front not really bad at all. This ^ Seems to have been the case for years now. And sometimes you'll get a rear one and it fits perfect, then 10 more and never quite right. Even the AMD ones wasn't much better Quote
