Regardless of your political affiliation, today is a time that you actually get to exercise your right to vote. This is one of the few things that our government hasn't taken away from the American people (YET) . TODAY IS YOUR DAY ! Do yourself and your family, friends and neighbors a favor, offer those who are disabled or unable to drive a ride to cast their vote as well . I promise you, it will make you feel good to know that you do actually make a difference !! Please understand, I am not campaigning for anyone, that should be your personal choice.

100 percent agree, and yes well said Mike. I'm doing my election day tradition of going to breakfast and then to vote. We can all make a difference!

Willie hope your ankle is a little better.  I'm off my pain meds for the procedure I have coming up next Monday so hopefully not to much pain when standing waiting,  should be pretty quick.

Tkx Steve its getting better as i can walk on it now, still swollen but ok!!!          I vote on election day every election but i wouldn't of been able to stand on this ankle with the line being as long as it usually is, so i voted early waiting for the right time in the afternoon and it worked well as there were only about 5-6 people ahead of me.

Steve watch yourself before Monday, you don't want to screw it up before your surgery.  Also Good Luck with the surgery, as you had your share of B/S already!!

We voted early. It is a great feeling. I always remind my daughters to vote. They never miss. My oldest grandson voted for the first time.

Yup, voted last week. Good to exercise your right!! Willie, I'm in the same boat with injuries. I think I might have a torn meniscus in my right leg. Gave me a shot, and scheduled me for MRI. Steve, hope it all works out for the better.🙂🙂

I’ll echo the sentiments of all so far:  exercise your right, your civic duty and cast your vote.

And while everyone is certainly entitled to support the candidate and party of their own choice/belief/opinion, I find it disheartening when people publicly bash or belittle those who don’t share similar views.

Whether it’s presidential candidates, NY vs. Chicago style pizzas or Chevy vs. Ford, making disparaging blanket statements and painting everyone on the opposing “team” with the same broad brush is sophomoric and flies in the face of healthy, educated debate.

We all have opinions. And opinions are regularly shared, discussed and debated, oftentimes passionately. But one can’t enter a discussion where preconceived notions are in play and expect anything of substance to be the result.

I’m happy to report that I have had several good, educated conversations regarding this election. On the other hand, it has also reinforced why I don’t do social media.

Glen, that was very well said !!  I too don't fool with social media. My mom and dad always taught me that it was rude to gossip. That seems to be the main thing social media is. Maybe if I was home bound and never got to see or talk to anyone, That's not where I am in life. Not saying it's not for others, but it's certainly not something that I feel a need for . My grandfather used to tell me as a little boy, if you can count the number of friends ( those you can call at 3am and they come running without asking why) you have on one hand when you die , you have succeeded in life .

Yeah, social media seems to consume way too much time of way too many people. I regularly visit here and I also visit a work related site, but thats about it.  And while I am guilty of stretching boundaries and peppering my contributions with sarcasm and bluntness, I was raised with similar values as mentioned by you.

I was always taught to take issues directly to who you had a problem with early on to attempt resolution before things grew legs.  I was also reminded that it’s easier to escalate gradually and proportionally, rather than come out of the gate too hard and either have to backpedal or run out of options. These lessons in particular have served me well in 33 years of LE… the whole “more flies with honey than vinegar” analogy.

And your Grandad’s wisdom is spot on.

I know we are not supposed to post political views but I feel safe to say in a neutral way that I'm glad my mailbox will be a a little emptier after election day.
