Ride height

I am in the process of installing a qa1 suspension kit on my monte.

I was talking with a friend we are thinking low enought so that people know it is lower, but not too low that most will not know it is lower than factory.

What is your ride height?  Pictures please.

Hey Craig,

Keep in mind tire clearances when you lower your Monte....

Here's a picture of Montelishi when I first got her. Just a bit taller than factory.

This is mine I'm sure it's higher than it was from factory but it's the way I want it.

Steve, yours looks real nice on the height.  The front looks fairly close to normal height but the rear looks to be maybe 3- 4 inches from factory.  Your height fits the hood and wheels nicely.

this how it is going to look again after the coil over install . 235/60/15 fronts, 275/60/15 rears.from the ground up to the center of the wheel well trim, front 24", rear 25".

This is the same tire size , with Moog Vari-Rate Rate (CC 507) rear coil springs ,air shocks with 25 psi ( just so they work).

I think your ride height should optimize the suspension upgrade over looks, just my .02

Agreed.  My ‘70 arrived with the QA1’s at all 4 corners. While the stance looks nice (subjective, of course) the ride is garbage. It’s jarring and reminiscent of how go-karting feels when you’re too old to be go-karting. 

Returning to OE-style springs and shocks (perhaps with a coil or 2 removed) is in the “YES” column when she goes in for refreshing next year.  The QA1’s will then be making their appearance for sale here along with the Ron Davis rad and fans.

QA1’S installed on all four corners (small block springs 500#?) the info stated it would lower the car 1”  The left photo is with QA1, the right stock(I assume it still has the original front springs but the rears springs may have been replaced.  I set it up level.

These pix were taken at the seller’s residence by the inspector I hired to give the car “the full Monte” (see what I did there?).

I'll assume when you say right/left you refer to the pictures of the Monte facing right/left 🤣 I like the left facing stance, always great to see another green Monte 🤘

Well, technically it wasn’t my front seat yet.

And any semblance between your assumptions and reality falls into the “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” category. Or Livermore, California to be precise.

I restored my suspension this past spring. Stock springs, Moog 6330 and 5379. The rear was a little low for 275/60/15 so I ended up putting 1/2” spacer in the rear.
