Michael Boyte Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The Monte looks great in both pictures, I really like the 5 spoke wheel ! Quote

The rear was a little low for 275/60/15 so I ended up putting 1/2” spacer in the rear. Changed my perspective on vinyl top, you have a nice looking ride 3 Quote
Robnhood Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 When I started this thread I had an idea of the stance that I wanted my monte carlo to have. I was thinking that I wanted it to be low enough so that most people would know that it was lower than factory, but high enough so that weren't sure it it wasn't factory. Every single one of these cars are great, and I like them all. I will post pictures when I get done with it. I am slow going on this. 4 Quote
Jeff Dodson Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Some very nice cars, but that BLUE ONE is 😍👌 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 I ordered a brand-new set of top coil isolators and new rear Moog CC507 coils for my Monte. I won't have to max out the air in the new rear air shocks to give the car that muscle car stance. 1 Quote

I'm not a fan of Air Shocks and on top of the rear trailing arms and rear sway bar, stabilized the rear very well Quote

If so , The stance is great 👍 Nope Michael, have not had time for pictures yet. Still installing the front coil overs. That picture was from the first time to a show in '08 with the "worn out"springs and new shocks (front coils cut 1 1/2 coils , drag shocks on the front, air shocks on the rear,25psi so they worked). It's going to sit like that ,maybe a little lower. right now I like it ,it measures 23 1/2" in the front (BBC, w/sbc cut coils 1 1/2coils , bilstein shocks, 24 1/2" with the rear coil overs. This is from the ground to the bottom of each wheel well trim. 3 Quote
Whons Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I rebuilt my front suspension, cut 1" of length off new front springs. front tires are 235/60/15. Back tires are 275/60/15 7 Quote

72 Monte Carlo Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I decided to leave my stock sbc front coil springs in my Monte because I've heard too many people complain about the bbc front coil springs raising the front too much. I'll know more if I need to change the front coil springs once I'm able to start driving it after it gets painted. 1 Quote

I have a SBC and though I liked the ride height, it screwed up the geometry in the front alignment and could not even get it into specs. Wasnt enough weight in the front. The only option I had was to put adjustable upper control arms or the SBC SPRINGS back in. I put the SBC springs back in. 4 Quote

I've still got factory springs, and even though I've blocked them I still get to much compression in the corners at speed. 2 Quote

I had actually thought about cutting a coil off the BBC springs because I lived the stiffness. The ones the were in there were replaced with the Upper and lower tubular control arms, I don't know the brand, the P.O. did them. 2 Quote

Jeff Dodson Posted January 9 Posted January 9 14 minutes ago, Scott S. said: There are BBC springs available that are already cut as well...... I'm good with mine now. I put the original size tires on up front so they no longer rub. Part of the reason my fromlnt looked low, I had to shim the from core support buddy bushings. My fenders were bowed out and a body guy friend said to shim the core support bushings. I had just replaced at the body bushings with Poly bushings so it probably threw everything off. Its good now. I wouldn't mind it being a bit higher in the front but I'm good with it now. Got the rear done with boxed control arms and trailing arms, sway bar.... 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Just got my rear springs fro 420ponies to raise the rear...... Already had the boxed arms but I added poly back there just for fun. Hope it all lines up the way you're looking to get it. 2 Quote

It did... sets perfectly now, drive is fantastic... with the aftermarket rear upper and trailing arms. I also took out the Air Shocks and put spring assisted Shocks. Holds the rear pretty solid. I'm just not a fan of air shocks 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Montelishi had air shocks when I got her, but they were toasted...... Tried to get them to work, wound up putting in gas shocks, but still not completely happy with those either. Quote

Never was a fan of coil springs, but with the spring assisted... good job Quote
TheBMan Posted January 12 Posted January 12 My 1970 measured from the ground to the bottom of the fender/quarter trim: Rear: 25" Front: 27" 4 Quote
