Not a bad starter depending on how hight bidding goes.

402 bucket seats, console car .  Good starting point, I would say .

Seen that earlier. My first thought was “ there you go Joe “.

I’m trying to figure out that vinyl top. It looks like a smooth material without any seams, It’s got too much shine. Or it could be some kind of paint with some texture to it, because the seams where the quarters and the deck behind the rear glass meet are visible. That being said, it looks like a nice car to start with. Too bad about those side moldings.

The top is painted instead of vinyl. It was actually optional to get a painted top referred to as a two-tone but not in that colour for 72.

I agree 👍. That's the first thing that would have to go !

I recall those moldings in the 70's.   They consist of an aluminum channel that is riveted to the car then a vinyl strip is inserted into the channel.  Picture 12 shows the rivets where the vinyl insert has shrunk back and the rivets are exposed.

The reason I brought it up is because the description says vinyl top. That roof definitely needs repainting then. Does anyone remember the imitation spray on vinyl tops? You got 2 strips that mimicked the seams that glued to the top. Then the roof was sprayed with a crinkle paint. As for the moldings, that’s what I used to protect the paint on the inside edges of the bed rails and along the front rail on my 84 GMC truck. Much easier to replace the vinyl strip than touch up the paint

I'm thinking someone removed the top either because it was bad, or the metal underneath was bad. Looks like it was painted after that, plus you can see the body gap where the quarters meet the filler panel. Also by looking at the freshly painted trunk area, it may also suggest there may have been issues in there (leakage), and it was cleaned up.

I agree, also the paint on the right front fender doesn’t match the door. The mismatched paint on the body panels is also mentioned in the description. They used a gloss clear instead of satin in the trunk.

I’ve often thought about what an airbrushed vinyl-looking top would look like if done really well.  Similar to how stained concrete is made to look like marble or granite. I know the purists would scoff at such blasphemy, but mods are mods.

Ive seen some amazing "airbrushed" stuff over the years, true artists. Much like the "ghosted" stuff. May not like some of it but respect the craft

I saw that and I'm surprised that it sold for that much given limited pics, no video, poor description and the unresponsive seller.     This comment sums it up:

Many questions asked and almost NONE answered ! A relatively New BAT Member who was very unresponsive during this Auction ! The winning Bidder definitely took a Leap of Faith on this Purchase ! I only hope that it cranks and runs when it arrives at its destination ! Good luck to the Winning Bidder !!!
