sbarnette Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 We have always done a real tree. 🎄Love the smell! 3 Quote

willie Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 We had a real tree back in the day before the kids were born. Like Sammy said We loved the smell!! But at that time even putting the aspirin and water the apartment was so hot the petals just kept falling off. By the time Christmas was over, it really was a Charlie Brown tree!! So since then, we switched to an artificial tree and never looked back. We did get the pine spray and that seemed to work but you have to do it constantly!! All in all the real tree is nicer for the Holidays but artificial is a great second choice!!! lol Merry Christmas Everyone!!! 4 Quote

That would be too easy, No way the wife would want candles burning with the 4 grandsons running around. I keep telling them to put their jackets on and go outside, lol all the parents say it's to cold outside! I say that's bologna!!!! 2 Quote
stangeba Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Pre lit artificial Christmas tree put up last week. Our last real tree was 1979, the first Christmas in our first home. I remember it was all up, looked great, I added water to the tree stand and it started leaking out. The next tree we set up, went on sale just after Christmas 1979, and we got a great price. 4 Quote
Marks71 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Real, but for the last 15 years we’ve been saying next year it’ll be a fake one. Now with real in the $130 range, we’re closer than ever to fake. Although for what nice fakes are going for it’ll probably be 3 years before it’s paid for itself in savings. Then it’s home free. 3 Quote

A million years ago when I used to go camping, the other guys with real trees would save them, and bring them down to throw on the camp fire. 1 Quote
Scott S. Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 My kid sister had allergies.... So we had a tacky little fake one. I'm not usually home for Christmas, and I've got enough other plants, so it's not a big issue. 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Took two 50' spruce trees down in the front yard several years ago....... Still not missing then. 1 Quote

Glen Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Been going real tree for the last several years since kiddo wanted to try one. I absolutely hate going to get one because it takes longer waiting for the girls to pick out “the perfect one” than it takes me drive to the place and back home with it and then to drag it in the house and put it in the stand. That’s where my participation with the Christmas tree ends until it’s time to take it out to the alley in January. The girls light it, decorate it, tree skirt it, Nativity scene it. And then, without exception, Mongo always attempts to use the real tree as “indoor plumbing” for the first couple hours (he figures out quickly that gets him in trouble) and the Lab, without exception, has to try and eff with the water in the stand. Its more of a PITA with each passing year. 1 1 2 Quote
