kpcsgasp Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Picked up my 2025 calendar from NAPA and this was Mr. March. Does this belong to a member? 3 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Yes but Bob Lynan don't own it any more. It now belongs to Glenn. Beautiful car. 6 Quote
Glen Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 What’s funny is that exact picture was used for the same/similar calendars more than a couple times. I have them as Bob included them with the sale as I asked for anything provenance-related to be included. Off the top of my head I can’t remember the years right now, but that is Booger. I’m gonna have to snag a copy of this 2025 calendar to add to my collection of documentation. If I recall correctly, that is the original paint before Bob had it repainted (as seen below now in my care). And seeing as the publisher didn’t get my consent to use my car, I’ll be seeking royalties post haste 💰💰😂 Booger also appears in this book… 4 Quote
Michael Boyte Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Glen, you certainly got yourself a beautiful vehicle . I used to see Bob with his SS454 several times throughout the year. He would always be present and passing out candy at the Garden City Halloween car show which was about 45 minutes south of North Myrtle Beach. The one thing that always caught my attention was the Shirley Muldowney signature on the underside of the rear deck . He always seemed to be rather proud of that and would always point it out to everyone. Is that still there Glen or did you have that repainted ? Quote

Oh no, Shirley’s ‘Jane Hancock’ along with NASCAR’s Chase Elliot, Greg Zipadelli and one other which I can’t remember or decipher (see attached pix) at the moment will remain intact. I also found pictures of the previous calendars* dated (February) 2008 & (September) 2011, as well as the page (158) of the book* in which ‘Booger’ appears. * places you WON’T be seeing either of Dennis’s clones 7 Quote

If you’re going to do it, do it correctly. Thank you. 😊 5 Quote

Now maybe if I had Joe’s money, I could buy it and turn it into my house 😂 1 3 Quote

I bet if you look in the sales contract Bob probably already sold off the rights to the pictures. (and spent the cash wisely) Just trying to save you a law suit. Scott. 2 Quote

It’s likely Bob signed-off on some kind of legal document/contract/waiver acknowledging the unlimited use of that image into perpetuity in exchange for…???? But now my interest has been piqued. That said, if I were a betting man (which I might just be 🤫) I’d wager legal verbiage exists that the use of image(s) of “his” vehicle is contingent upon his ownership of said vehicle. I’d imagine any type of legal document would be unenforceable/null and void once the vehicle changed hands and new ownership was officially established. It’s likely this isn’t an uncommon phenomenon and surely case law exists as to the merits, remedies etcetera. Playing Devils Advocate: how would NAPA know ownership had changed? Well, they likely wouldn’t unless that caveat was specifically discussed and memorialized in whatever contract was executed. I’m thinking a politely worded email to NAPA’s Marketing Department might be in order. And then perhaps a call to the law offices of Dewey, Cheatem & Howe 😁 In the meantime, I’ll be forwarding any and all parking violations to Bob 🤣😂 1 3 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 It was used by another parts store for there calendar before around 10 or so years ago. I think it was auto value or something like that. I got it from a local parts store/machine shop I used to deal with, Niles auto supply they have been in business for many years. I'm sure the original owners are long gone Billy and Tommy baker they were both good guys. 3 Quote

Hopefully it translates to bolstering the continued momentum in both the interest in and value of our First Gens (clones excluded for obvious reasons, “Ennis-Day”). Auto Value sounds familiar and might be one of the ones I have. I’ll have to poke around and look for it at some point to verify. 4 Quote
