Gor gas just before getting onto the turnpike and there must be some water or junk in the tank from that gas. Have gotten off rhe Pike because if I end up needing a flatbed it is too hard to get one on the Pike. Going to be singing 'take me home country roads' all the way home rob See if you can get some dry in it, thst may help 2 3 Quote
420ponies Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Hi Everyone! Well, I made it home.Yes, yes, this new drive train upgrade did its job and we are home. I had to have a little down time after I made it back. No issues!! The last 8 miles or so, took it up to 70mph (3,300 rpm). Everything is good. I have just a couple things to do on the carb and that should do it. If anyone has ever gone through Williamsport, Pa. going up to update New York, there is a spot that you climb from 662 elevation, to 1662 elevation in 10 miles. That was the test for the car. Made it no problem. Temp. just over 180 at the top of the mountain, dropped right back at 180 after about 2 miles down the road. Geez, I didn't take any photos this weekend. 5 1 Quote
714024SPEED Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Hope you make it home alright. Of course it's always on the way home after we had so many trailers at the meet . 3 Quote
Rob Peters Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 We made it home safely, finally!!! Parts of of the trip were like riding a bucking bronco. A couple times she bucked and bucked and bucked repeatedly while on the turnpike and actually completly as we drifted to a complete stop in the emergency lane. We got off the Pike as soon as we could. I now have less than ¹/⁴ of a tank of gas and she seems to have passed what was causing g the issues. rob 8 Quote

We should maybe consider adding an 'After Event - Hard Luck' award to the list. 1 5 Quote

kpcsgasp Posted June 23 Posted June 23 I sent this to Joe's cell but I just wanted to say on line how much I appreciated the efforts of Joe, Rob and the rest of the staff for all their hard work and dedication to make the meet a success. To have to pivot from the tragedy at Sommerset must have been tremendous effort. I'll have my Monte there next year and hope for an even better event. Thanks again. 5 1 Quote
Rob Peters Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 Usually our grand kids ride home with with their dad in their modern iron. The past two year our granddaughter has ridden home with me and both times I have had issues. Emily things my Monte doesn't like to leave Carlisle and she may be right!!! The time in Carlisle is always too short and I hate when it is over. I want to thank everyone who attended, it was an amazing 5 days for my grandkids and I and already looking forward to next year. I really look forward to and love seeing everyone in Carlisle. I have either hosted a Mini-Meet or planned and jointly worked on an eastern meet in Carlisle every year since 2005, that is 20 years in a row. When we talk about this being our Monte Family, that is truly the case. Our group has watched the DiVirgilio, Talarek and our grandchildren grow up. Attached is a picture of my grandson this year and a picture of him 10 or 11 years ago so you can see what I mean about our Monte Family kids growing. I want to thank everyone for attending this year and when we talk about our Monte Carlo Club Family I want to say I love you people like you are my own family and look froward to seeing you many years to come. I want to thank Joe, CK and Dennis for the special recognition awards presented to me this year and especially I want to thank Larry Gilbert for the award of the beautiful clock he made to be presented to me. As many members here know Larry is an artist at working with wood. Awards and recognition awards: The Honorary Officer Award can be presented to a past officer for their dedication to the club My car was voted by our members as the best Non-Restored Monte My Monte won 3rd Place in the 70-72 Monte Carlo Stock Class I recently went through a project of diagnosing the issue of my gas gauge not reading properly. In my trouble shooting of this issue I got information from many members. So, I put together and hosted a seminar on how to diagnose if the issue is due to a bad sending unit, ground, wiring from front to back or the gauge. The above award is due to of this effort Thank You to the "Black Knight Of Monte Carlo because I don't like to be called "SIR" I tell people I am not a SIR and that Sir is a term of respect I have not yet earned. (They think I will now accept being called "Sir") The above clock was made by member Larry Gilbert. Larry, I want to thank you very much for this honor. You are a true Gentleman and you don't have any idea how much this means to me. Thank you to everyone who attended our Meet this year in Carlisle. We had beautiful weather and I had a wonderful 5 days with you all (Hey Seth, I think I may have received maybe one thing more than you did. Congrats to you for not only receiving top awards AND the club Hard Luck Award ) rob 11 1 Quote

But 10 minutes after I left home my brake controller in the cab of the truck started smoking. I turned it off and did the trip with no trailer brakes. I was kinda eyeing the runaway truck ramp though. lol. All good though. 2 4 Quote
