Can someone check to see if the dome light is on center of the rear view mirror? Mine is off center and I’m changing my headliner.

Hey Carl, there should be screw holes for the dome light.

Here a photo that might help. Wiring.jpeg.f9b00975ff85e5957e2d70bc0e91894e.jpeg

If you zoom in to the darker spot on the rib, just above the last clipped wire, you can see them. :)

I saw a post on here a while back, that said if you put your screws into their holes for the dome light, sun visors, seat belt clips, etc., before installing the headliner, you can just make a small cut over each screw to get the headliner over it, and it saves you the headache of locating the screw holes after the headliner is in.

My Monte has remnants of the same stuff as this picture in the ceiling after pulling the factory headliner.

Is that supposed to be sound deadener, or just the backing of the factory headliner insulation?

I have a brand-new headliner kit which came with two big pieces of white insulation that I need to install first before the new headliner.

I’m doing a modern type headliner. ABS black plastic then a glue on foam with fabric. I did figure out the dome light location. It is center of the console and not the rear view mirror. I will do that screw thing that you mentioned. Thanks

It's sound insulation.... Glued to the roof.

The newer stuff has a foil backing (instead of the rubbery stuff) that you glue the headliner to these days.
