MC-71 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Can someone check to see if the dome light is on center of the rear view mirror? Mine is off center and I’m changing my headliner. Quote
Scott S. Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Hey Carl, there should be screw holes for the dome light. Here a photo that might help. 2 Quote

72 Monte Carlo Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I saw a post on here a while back, that said if you put your screws into their holes for the dome light, sun visors, seat belt clips, etc., before installing the headliner, you can just make a small cut over each screw to get the headliner over it, and it saves you the headache of locating the screw holes after the headliner is in. 4 Quote

My Monte has remnants of the same stuff as this picture in the ceiling after pulling the factory headliner. Is that supposed to be sound deadener, or just the backing of the factory headliner insulation? I have a brand-new headliner kit which came with two big pieces of white insulation that I need to install first before the new headliner. 1 Quote
MC-71 Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 I’m doing a modern type headliner. ABS black plastic then a glue on foam with fabric. I did figure out the dome light location. It is center of the console and not the rear view mirror. I will do that screw thing that you mentioned. Thanks 3 Quote

The newer stuff has a foil backing (instead of the rubbery stuff) that you glue the headliner to these days. 2 Quote
