Jeff Dodson Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Anybody replace the rear brake hose with body on the car ?. Evidently I stretched mine doing the upper control arms and separated the rubber cover enough that I think the inner tube disconnected before I noticed it. Just wondering how much of a PITA it is Quote
Dtret Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Should be no problem. Get the metal lines soaked with penetrating lubricant and loose before you take the slide clip off the hose.same with the diff bolt 4 Quote
Scott S. Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 When I did mine, I raised the body and put the jack stands under the frame. Letting the rear end hang down gives you a little more room to work. 2 Quote

I don't know why they make those fittings with so soft of a metal 1 Quote

Dtret Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 All the manufacturers are the same. Make it last until it’s out of warranty then it’s not our problem. 5 Quote
Scott S. Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Were you using "flare nut" wrenches ??? They make a difference. 2 Quote

Scott S. Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Maybe mine had been replaced in the past ??? Hard to say..... But I did switch them for steel braided lines with only skinned knuckles to show for it. It was the body clip I had problems with. 2 Quote

I got a knick from that, from a Muffker brace bolt sticking out Quote

Leghome Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 When I worked at a body shop 40 years ago, when we clipped a car(cut it in half discard the bad and weld in a good part form another wreck) Ray always gave what he called the Tennessee gaurentee if it falls in two across the street you owned both halfs. We never had that happen. We took a Short purple Dodge Van into the shop at 8:30 on a Sat morning cut off the front clip put o n the replacement and drove it out of the shop around 4 pm. Not finished but where we could clear the shop for Monday's opening 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I've seen that kind of action.... LOL I worked construction back in the '80's, and one day a backhoe operator parked a company van in the blind spot of a Cat 245 hoe. He swung around and destroyed the entire passenger's side of the van. So, seeing as it was a brand new van, the lead shop mechanic went down to the wreckers and bought a van with driver's side damage. Split both vans in half and made one van out of them. After some bodywork and paint, the only way one could really tell was from the inside...... But the thing still drove like a piece of s***..... 2 Quote
