72Ragtop Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I need a new master cylinder and while I was lookin around I came across an Electric Power Brake Booster setup with 1-1/8" bore master cylinder and adjustable proportioning valve. Classic Performance Parts. Looks interesting. Any comments or observations? 3 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted January 13 Posted January 13 That sure would be easier to get more clearance when running a big block with taller valve covers, but $849 - ouch! https://classicperform.com/shop/hot-products/cpp-electric-e-booster-power-brake-kits/6474ebk-sb 2 Quote
jft69z Posted January 13 Posted January 13 $849 is a good price. A while back while looking for another member's situation, I found a couple other electric brake options, but they were a lot more expensive. Might be worth a little look though, to compare parts, installation, etc. https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/631250/10002/-1?srsltid=AfmBOopdd4maw9UEF2RRZlX5UUFaSFYibMmnqWTjVA-GgRu1pGWzEsW3Edw&gPromoCode=RESTORATIONDESTINATION_JAN25_65Off&gQT=1 https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Compact-Electric-Brake-Power-Booster-Master-Cylinder-Disc-Disc,8335.html?utm_medium=CSEGoogle&utm_source=CSE&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9PyOmevzigMV0DQIBR2a-hG8EAQYASABEgKC1fD_BwE https://www.amazon.com/Compact-Power-Electric-Master-Cylinder/dp/B079Q5ZTPN?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1FJ1WMPKJVUMQ&gQT=1 https://www.jegs.com/tech-articles/converting-from-vacuum-to-electric-brakes/?srsltid=AfmBOoqGrTPHVE5PgdSYurdDs2vZ06o7BvHGJzjoJ-YfBZAvUmJPko8w 5 Quote
72Ragtop Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 FYI ...after, finally, getting my hands on a copy of the installation instructions -which was like pulling teeth- I decided not to go this route, at this time. They were describing -without clear diagrams- a complicated procedure that ended up with drilling a hole in the brake pedal arm. It's a GM A-body .... shouldn't be this complicated! That being said, I like the concept and probably ain't done with this electric booster thing. 3 Quote
Scott S. Posted July 31 Posted July 31 My '86 T-Type came from the factory with G.M.'s version. Worked nice until the impeller fins wore out. Then the expense began. :( There were only a few cars back then that used them, so G.M. didn't put a lot of effort into improving them. Interesting that this type doesn't use a pressure tank. 1 Quote
bob 71 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Not a fan of cpp. Had a problem with a vacuum power brake booster and master cylinder assembly, worked good for a month then the booster went bad. Brake pedal hard as a rock, car wouldn't stop. Called them got the runaround. Bought different booster, all good now. Quote
