I am putting new speakers in the back of my Monte and need a couple things.

One of the things I need is the cover that goes over the rear speakers to protect it in the trunk.  This cover is made of heavy non-corrugated  black cardboard has insulation inside it.  Please see attached pictures:

I also need the bracket that mounts on the rear speaker.  This bracket has a threaded stud on it which allows mounting of the above speaker cover.  This bracket is attached to the rear speaker with a single rivet on one side and on the other side of this bracket it attaches to the speaker by locking into the speaker on the other side with some notches in the bracket.  I do not need the entire speaker, only the bracket which can be removed from the speaker by drilling out the rivet.  More than likely any original speaker would be garbage by now.  Let me know what you have.  Below are 4 photo's of the speaker and bracket.  When you look at the photos you will be able to see the rivet on one side and notches in the other side of the bracket and you will be able to also see the threaded stud.  All of the photo's pretty much feature the bracket

This first picture shows the single rivet going through the bracket, attaching the bracket to the speaker.  It also shows the black nut band nut that threads onto the stud that holds the speaker cover to the speaker.

The below photo shows the other side of the bracket where it locks into the speaker to hold it to the other side of the speaker.

This next photo shows the speaker and the bracket from the bottom, showing the threaded stud with the  cover attaching flat nut.

So what I am looking for is One rear speaker cover and One bracket that piggy-back mounts onto the bottom of the speaker with the intact threaded stud.  Let me know if you have any of these items and what you may be looking to get for them shipped to Pittsburgh, PA 15216.  The bracket would only need to have the single rivet drilled out to remove the bracket since I do not need the actual speaker.

Hey Ron,

Not that it's much help, but I had those same units on my '86 T-Type.

Sadly, I think they went in the dumpster when we cleaned out the garage after he passed. :(

But I'm thinking they might be generic to most G.M. cars..... Might have some luck if you've got a wreckers nearby that has older cars.

The speakers were a different size in those 80s cars so the box and bracket would be different.

Thanks but not too many scrap yards around here have the older vehicles.  I do realize many, especially GM models more than likely had the same design rear speakers.  I posted here in case some of our members may have something laying around.  BTW, I'm not sure who this Ron person is you are speaking of.  (JK)

I don't think any of my cars have them, would that be an option that i can see on the build sheet? Or no just part of every system?

I have what Rob wants but they are not perfect. So if anyone has anything that is really really really nice and wants to rid themselves of them post pictures for him.

Thanks Paul, I already bought some really nice speakers made specifically for my car, including the front speakers.

Frank, that is a good idea and if what I have in mind doesn't work I will do that.  Either that or I will epoxy the bracket to the speaker.  Thanks Frank!!!

Dan, Yes, OPGI has them for around $22.00 plus shipping which brings the total to $45 to $53.

I have the cover off this speaker, but mice pulled all of the insulation out of it.

Yes Steve, you are right.  Even though it "says" "In Stock" I never believe that and would never order online from them.  I would always call first to verify stock and make them person go back and physically check.
