1Bad454 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I'm having a problem with the locking rod being able to pull up or down. It's binding... I can easily lock and unlock the door with the key but the locking rod seems to bind when I try to pull it up or push it down. Has anybody here had a similar issue? Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I'll assume that it's lubbed up internally, is the lock rod at any strange angle? I don't remember it being but may have to bend the rod a bit to get it aligned better. I didn't have a problem with mine but it is still original lock mechanism. Also is the lock rod on the correct side of the mechanism? Like I said I Don't remember how it was on or if it's possible to put it on wrong side. And make sure it is the correct lock rod for that side of the car, right and left could be different. And then again it could be a problem with the aftermarket latch. A lot of variables there. 2 Quote
1Bad454 Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 Here are some pics for some perspective. I was thinking of bending the tab. Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Does it work OK without the linkage hooked up? That may give you a clue as to weather it's linkage or mechanism. Just a thought. Quote
1Bad454 Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 I can pull the lath lever inside the door up and down. It's a bit stiff though.. Quote
willie Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Ron, i would take the latch out, grease it up really good as you move the locking mechanism a lot till she is much more free. Then put it back in and check it. 1 Quote
Dtret Posted March 19 Posted March 19 When Ron and I talked he suggested more lube , my thought was it’s a brand new assembly and should be somewhat lubed when it was manufactured so i immediately went to the lock rod, bent, wrong side or something like that. Quote
