Vintage plates, NY used the same plates from 66 to 73 so you can use the plates from era if you have the proper insurance on the car. That's what I have on mine.

I live in Ohio, I put Historical plates on mine soon as it turned 25 years old. I was told to carry the Historical  ones in the trunk and I could display my 1972 Ohio plates on it. The BMV took pictures of my 72 plates so they could connected to my Historical plates.

Years later I eventually got pulled over and the cop says my plates were not registered and I explained the whole story and showed him my Historical plates in my trunk. He let me go without an issue.

Eventually I put the Historical plates back on it and hung my 72 plates on my garage wall, I never really liked Ohio's 72 plates color which is blue with yellow letters and numbers...yuck, lol.

I live in Michigan and use vintage 1971 Michigan plates since 4 Sep 2003 and they are FREE for life. (I don't think that will fly today)

I really wish I could find this one but no luck so far.  🤣

I had antique plates on both my 1929 Model A Ford and my 70 Monte Carlo.  I purchased an original Pennsylvania plate with a 1970 sticker in Carlisle that had been cleared by the DMV and got it transferred to my Monte.  Like the Antique plates it is a permanent one like the Antique plates.  I haven't looked into one for the Model A because it doesn't get driven that much.

I put a 1972 era plate on my Monte with a collector car one-time registration fee. I just did the same for the 75 Chevy factory short wide bed 4x4 that I just got.

I went the personalized route. 72 W code Custom and 71 SS. Don’t know what I want for the 70 SS yet, but luckily I don’t have to worry about it anytime soon.

In Indiana we can put the plate on ours that corresponds to the year of the car. In 72 our plates white with green letters and numbers. Red and Green do not go together any time any where period

I've had this plate hanging somewhere since 1971..... Belonged to my uncle when he worked in the N.W.T.

Finally found a car to put it on. ;)

Antique plates on both classics (FL) Vanity (personalized) on the suburban and standard on the tow truck. Va (older plates are stamped with the year) and they let you use those. But they charge property tax on vehicles and you almost need a letter from GOD to challenge their value. 😡 I like that FL only has rear plates, when I moved to commiefornia since I didnt have a front plate holder I never put it on. One thing I got away with 🤣

Antique plates for my classics too. In FL the plates are blue which matches both of my classic cars.

That can get very expensive. I think California when you renew it's based on what you paid for the car.

The FL antique plates are half priced compared to any other vehicle.

CA bent me over when I moved there because my Bronco wasn't built for CA emissions specs. Someone started a class action suit so I got some of that back 5 years later 🙃

I think VA property tax on vehicles is 10% of THEIR assessed market value every year, They also have yearly safety inspection requirements. and a county window sticker.

Fl used to have red and white plates for cars over 50 years, IIRC they were free, haven't seen them in the DMV for awhile. I was going to get a USN plate for the tow truck, but that was extra and pissed me off 🤣
