We used to go to the drive-in to also meet girls so one time when my friend drove his 72 imapla I hid in the trunk and he drove pretty far in the back and I slipped out and went in the passenger door. Unfortunately they were watching him when he drove in as there was only one person. Took the person several minutes to walk all the way back and he just put out his hand and took my money, he really didn't even say anything.

Learned my lesson as it was extremely embarrassing, lol.

I could only imagine. At least he was cool about it.

What, nobody with stories of 2 or 3 of your friends hiding in your trunk so they didn't gave to Pau?

Back in the day trunks were larger and that was possible but then you had to risk getting caught when they were let out where most cars now have fold down back seats where you would only have to sneak into the interior without opening the trunk.

PS, notice I didn't say or admit to doing such a horrible thing.

For sure the older cars and trunks . Like having the love boat on wheels..  lots of space

The last time I went was to see "Beyond Thunderdome".....

It was "car load night", so we went with three pick ups and a station wagon..... Full.   lol

Lots of lawn chairs, coolers, snacks, etc. ;)

All three trucks had house speakers, so they wound up on the tool boxes, but we left the wagon shut down so we'd have someone to boost any dead batteries.

Buddy with the wagon even made a few bucks boosting others who hadn't planned ahead. $$$$.  :k

When I moved to Fl in the 80's they had a 14 screen drive in, never went, think they closed them in the 2000's. But on the weekends they would have a flea market area which was always a good walk, The Gyro's probably in the top 3 ive ever had. Owner had some of his race cars on display. Picked up a milk crate full of vinyl records their one weekend, about half were imports which was pretty cool

Before I got my first car, a 71 Monte, I would use my parents 68 Impala. That trunk would hold 3, but any more than 2 and it was quite obvious there was something in there. Would park in the back row to unload. Never got busted.

When grew up in Jacksonville the largest one I remember was a twin drive-in theater.  It was back to back screens.  I am not sure what they may have built after I left there in late 1968.    BTW that twin drive-in was along Normandy Blvd and was torn down to build the Normandy Mall and it is also gone now.

I thought for sure willie you were going to say a car wash . We have a ton of them every street corner  ....

Chris we only have 1, maybe 2 car washes in the bigger towns.. Nope many more Malls, but most of the big land went to condos, now there is not many bigger pieces of land anymore but they are putting the condos, even in the smaller pieces of land now! The land is so expensive now, in some places they are not releasing some commercial stores only to knock them down to build stores on the floor level with 4 or 5 levels of condos above!!!   crazy

Yeah that's crazy. For us car wash on every corner. They are like a drug store ... they had to pass a ordinance here . No more car washes to be built.

NAS is on 17. Blanding runs parallel. It was north of 295 on the west side of the road between Collins and 103rd st.
