With so many club sponsored Meets and Mini-Meets coming up over the next 4 months I wanted to ask if anyone has any Must See or Must Try stops along their way.  Especially those coming from a long way.

I think Jim and Linda Seyboldt usually have several planned stops along the way to some of the meets they attend.  So tell us if you have any planned stops along the way to the Eastern Meet, Western Meet, Carlisle Mini-Meet, Ohio joint Meet, Syracuse Nationals Mini-Meet or any other thing you may be attending.

For me, I am usually the type of person who likes to get in the car and drive, drive and drive some more with as few stops as possible.

Depending upon which route I take on the way to the Eastern Meet in Somerset, Ky, there may be a couple stops I would like to make.  They would be very quick stops.

Our first stop would be in Ohio for some Skyline Chili, also called Cincinnati Chilli.  This is a really good chili served over spaghetti with shredded cheddar cheese sprinkled over the top.

Our second stop, and I think there is at least one along my way.  I have been told if you have never stopped at a Buc-ee's it is worth stopping just to see one and have the experience.  There are no Buc-ee's anywhere around Pittsburgh.  I think there is one near Richmond, KY so we may make it a point to stop there for a Buc-ee's experience.

So, what are your side-bars for your trip to one of our up-coming meets over the next 4 months.

Yes, traveling from Long Island, New York to and from either Carlisle or Syracuse we like to stop and eat at Cracker Barrel as it is a novelty for us. There are no Cracker Barrel restaurants on Long Island. As far as the Syracuse Nationals, we have found excellent restaurants that can accommodate 20 or more Club and family members at one time. We like to eat at Dinosaur BBQ, Santangelo’s and Coppertop Tavern when in town. These restaurants always exceed our expectations and provide us with excellent food and service. Some homemade ice cream afterward from a local Mom and Pop stand right off the hotel property, followed by our evening bench racing sessions. Something we all look forward too at this Mini Meet.

Going to Buc-ee's cannot be a quick stop. We planned on it coming home from Flordia a couple of years ago and 2 hours later we left to ocme home

We haven't settled on this years side trip yet. I think it will all depend on the route we need to take since I-40 is likely not an option. Also, with Linda in a new job and not having the same amount of vacation as her old job, our days off are somewhat limited. I am sure we will come up with something though.

From what I understand, you won’t be disappointed.

There's a lot of great scenery to stop and take photos throughout Eastern Washington/Oregon on the way to Utah this year. I typically plan my trips to have only 6-8 hours of driving per day which allows me time to stop at points of interest and gives time to deal with issues if they arise. When travelling South into the US I often stop at Red Horse Diner in Ellensburg, WA for lunch even if it is a slight detour. The most direct route to Utah this year takes me a little East of Ellensburg so I haven't decided yet if I will stop there this year.

In 2022 there was a group of us in the club that added an extra day our drive to the meet travelling the Oregon coast. It was fantastic. I hope to do that again.

When we return home from the Western meet this year, we will be taking a 4 hour detour over to Yellowstone National Park. We will then spend the next day cruising with the Monte through the park and resume our journey home the following day. The Monte is looking forward to seeing the park and hopefully get some great pictures. 😄

A side trip worth the extra miles.  An even better side trip but much farther away would be to Yosemite National Park.  I have never seen a bad picture taken at Yosemite, even if there was not a First Gen Monte in that photo.
