Chris Bryant Posted April 8 Posted April 8 This is my first time owning a 1970 monte carlo or any older vehicle of that time period. My dad had a 1970 also with a 400 small block engine. Mine has the 402 or sometimes called the 400 big block. I'm excited to start with a running project car to hopefully one day being in show car quality 4 Quote
FrankOC Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Congrats on the new acquisition and welcome to the forum. 6 Quote
kpcsgasp Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Send lots of pictures. We love to see the evolution as you restore it. 4 Quote
Scott S. Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Welcome to the club, Chris. The best part of a "restore as you go" restoration is getting out to car club meets (and online groups) and getting ideas of what you want to do to your Monte...... Plus finding people that can help you along the way. 4 Quote
1970mcss Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Welcome and congratulations on your new monte 402. Enjoy the restoration and the journey along the way. If you need help there are alot of knowledgeable Monte owners on this forum. Keep us posted on your progress 2 Quote
Dtret Posted April 8 Posted April 8 As said, Welcome Chris. They can be a little intimidating at first but just ask and we will be more than happy to help you with whatever you need but only if you post pictures( lol). ( not a requirement but it is a necessity again lol). 5 Quote
Rob Peters Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Christopher, Congrats on your purchase of a 70 402 Big Block Monte. Please post some pictures. We hope you like what you see here and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member of the club. Let us know if your Monte is roadworthy. I know you have not had much time to look over the site but I want to make you award, in case you have not noticed, we are having our Eastern Meet in Somerset, KY. This would be a great opportunity to join in the fun at this great event. If you become a dues paying member of the club you would be able to join in the Eastern Meet activities. It is a great way to meet a large number of members and see a large number of First Gen Monte's. Also in attendance at this meet will be some members who have a number of parts for our cars if you are in need. rob 5 Quote

rottenx8 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 It is my 5th Monte Carlo, but my 1st First Gen. I had a 75, then an 81, then an 84 SS, and then sadly a 95 Z. I have always wanted a 70, the stars happened to align just right for me to get this one. Thanks for the shout out. 4 Quote

You kinda went my route 77, 88,92 ( I think?), 71SS, 70SS, 72 Custom and then the others. My problem is that I still have all but the 77 & the 92(I think?). 1 Quote
rottenx8 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Haha, I only have the 70 now. I wished I had enough space for them all. 1 Quote
