rottenx8 Posted April 13 Posted April 13 To all, I have been posting a lot lately. I became a member in Feb. Had to have Joe get me online last month. So, I thought I would formally introduce myself. I am Doug Otten. Married, 6 grown kids, 8 grandkids. Originally from Iowa, live in Southern Maryland. Retired Army. Teach JROTC at a high school. Prior to now, I owed 4 Monte's. A 75, then an 81, then an 84 SS, and a 95 Z34 ( i guess that has the name). I have always wanted a 70 SS. I found this on the side of the road. Worked the deal, and what a deal! Lots of extras and in good shape. Does need some work with a few things, but I didn't want perfect. It has a 454 that has been rebuilt to a 462. Not sure if it is a real SS, but I am happy with it. I went to my first show today. A local one. Here is a couple pics I took. 12 Quote

You will learn soon enough that the car is what brought you here but the people are why you stay. Read some of the posts and once the questions are answered you’ll notice that most of them are unintentionally high jacked as we banter on. It’s a great big family where only a big handful of us physically know each other but we ramble like we’ve known each other for years. Go to a meet once, with or without your car and you’ll see. 4 Quote
Rob Peters Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Beautiful Monte Doug. You have chosen wisely with the best year of Monte (a 70) and the best color (BLUE)!!!. I also see you live in Maryland a little south east of Washington DC which puts only a little over 2 1/2 hours from Carlisle, PA. We have a multi-day Mini-Meet at the end of June in Carlisle in conjunction with the Carlisle Events GM Nationals. As of now we have 40 members signed up with me to attend and we would love to see you and your car join us at this Mini-Meet. Attending a meet is a great way to meet a large number of members and First Gen Monte's all in the same place at the same time. Let me know if you would be interested in coming and I will fill you in on what I need to know from you and let you know how to get a room reservation and registered with the the Carlisle Events GM Nationals. rob 2 Quote

I think I had told you in another post, I am planning on coming to Carlisle, but only for a Friday appearance. I have summer camp the following week and plan to just drive up on Friday. I am thinking about making the trip to Lutty's on Thur to get a fuel tank and cap, stay somewhere away from Carlilse Thur night and then roll in for the show on Friday. Just a thought. I am really excited to come to the show!!! Doug 5 Quote
