Mack Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Hi- Finally found the tail panel trim for my 72 Monte Carlo, but trying to understand how they attach. I understand the tail light corners, but the long strip has some sort of short studs in the holes where it looks like the mounting clips should go. I can cut the studs off and make the hole I think goes there, but first want to understand how the mounting clips actually attach to the tail panel. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks! Quote
rsorg Posted April 14 Posted April 14 hi, dont cut off the studs ,that is what holds the plastic clips on to mount the trim piece ,maybe someone here can show you a picture ,roger 1 Quote

Jared Richey Posted April 15 Posted April 15 You can use the steel clips all the way across and works better really. Or add a few atleast. 1 Quote

I have four of those holding in my rear trim could not find any plastic they were all rotten. Got the extra clips from a member back in 2013 when we redid Ole Red and he still looks pretty good for only having been hauled once since I have owned him. Been to Carlisle several times Georgia, Kentucky, Tenn, West of Chicago and sll over Indiana and Ohio 1 Quote
Mack Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 (edited) Does anyone have pics on how the clips attach to the tail panel studs? Edited June 25 by Mack Quote
Jared Richey Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Plastic or shave studs and drill holes for the metal. Metal ones go on each end. Then like 5 Plastic on the studs. Someone 3D printed some back several months. 1 Quote
Mack Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 So the metal clips with studs go on each end and then there’s a different style clip that attaches to the studs on the tail panel. Understood. Thanks for the assist on this one Jared. I’ll search the forum to see if I can find out who made the 3D replicas Quote
