Ok Guys, I need your help. I am ordering wheels and tires this week. I thought that I wanted flat cap rally wheels. But now I'm rethinking my options and can't decide between the larger (derby) caps or the smaller flat caps. I've been looking at Car Show pictures from the Facebook page and most members seem to prefer the larger ones. I'm thinking that looks better. What are your opinion?

Since you're in North Carolina, I like the 3 spear style. I can remember back in the early '80's, cars from the 60's-70's had rally wheels and these on them. That's why they are on my Monte.

Its funny, I ran the 3 spear style for 23 years and just switched to the derby caps. I guess I like the derby caps better right now because it was a noticeable change.

I say derby caps, even though my 72 has the PO2s (not a fan). But its your car put on what you like!

I would say Derby caps...granted I only ran them on my Monte for like 2 years before switching to custom wheels.

I did run my Rallys on my Impala for many years and I used the derby caps on that car too.

I always kept a set of Derby caps, a set of flats and a set of the spinners (3 spoke) . I would change them out about every 3 or 4 months, each set gave the wheels a different look  ! The spinners were my favorite. At one point, we had to put pieces of razor blades between the wheel and the center, just to keep people from stealing them . However, we never had that problem with the Derby caps.

I’m new to this 3spoke cap. It’s funny, I’ve seen the photo of Jim’s car many times and didn’t notice them. I zoomed in on his caps this morning and went wow, good looking. I’ve got the cable locks on my Camaros derby’s. It attaches to one of the hex heads that hold the center of the derby, and one of the lug nuts. Won’t prevent a theft but if it’s a spur of the moment decision by some scum, it might be a deterrent.

I like the idea of changing the caps out.

Nope, Just a rubber mallet, sometimes I can just pull and they come off. I just like the look.

I liked them on the Shelbeys..... But NASCAR has sure made a mess of the "one lug" system.  :(
