Well, I'm getting a new(used,2 yrs.) hot tub Sunday.I have to remove it from a 2nd story deck. It's going to be fun.Got a plan ,and lots of extra hands to help.Pool company that owns a crane and does this everyday (there own hot tub), can't get to it until Mid June. They knew the closing date for the house I'm getting it from and they blew it. Won't even send some people over to help. Not very happy about the whole situation. Anyway, Monday is a big car show(Monte is not going), and picnic with the family. In the morning before the show, stopping off at some places to give our respect to our fallen soldiers.

What show are you going to?

A small show at a place called "The Windmill" in Penn Yan, N.Y. I can remember going to this show way back in the early '90's. Great show, ( 150-200 ) cars .You just never know what shows up. I'm bringing my cards just in case there is a 1st gen Monte there. Alway's new builds, 1st time out rides. I'm just a little worried about the show field with all this rain. We'll see in the morning.

I replaced all the flags on the flag poles Friday, I do it every year so new bright flags are flying on Memorial Day and July 4th. They fly 24/7 365, and yes I follow protocol, they are lit at night.

I got the Monte out early this morning and after church we picked up our grandson, Ryan, and after lunch we headed to the Pittsburgh North Hills where the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall is on display all weekend.  As stated before, we had been to the one in Washington DC and it is a sobering place.

This traveling memorial is a smaller version of the one in Washington DC but has the same impact.  All of the names are etched into the panels just as they are in Washington but in a smaller font.  Both walls are in a chevron shaped V.  A couple comparisons:  The the traveling wall is 375 feet long and DC wall is 493 feet long.  The Traveling wall is just over 6 feet tall at the tallest panel and the DC wall is 10' 3" tall at the tallest panel.   Both of the walls taper down at each end.

When we visited the wall in DC we noticed something amazing.  It is a very quiet memorial.  With the black granite panels etched with over 58,000 names of our military men and women killed and missing.  The thing you notice is nobody speaking in loud voices.  With both walls you will see people finding the name of their loved one and taking a piece of paper and a pencil or crayon and holding the paper over their loved ones name they rub the pencil or crayon over the paper getting an imprint of that name.

While I didn't get any pictures of the Monte Carlo today (this trip was not about the Monte) but I did take a few pictures of the wall and the people at the wall.

Enjoy your family time tomorrow.

We're here until Wednesday. Our neighbor is an army veteran who served in Vietnam,  very nice guy from buffalo N.Y

Not a whole lot going on here today. Some Club related computer work, take some dogs to the park for a walk, and maybe squeeze in a good bicycle ride. It's one of the few days here that isn't raining this month. Probably take a ride along the Niagara River, which will bring me by the Navy Seabees/US Marine Memorial park. I'll be sure to make a stop to salute my brothers & sisters from another branch of the Service.

That may be the Naval Park on the Buffalo waterfront you're thinking. The one today will be the one I sent you pics last year, on the river at North Tonawanda.

I was invited to be in a Memorial Day parade in my 1929 Model A Ford Tudor Sedan.

I went to take it out and the battery was almost dead.  I got her up and running but it was too late so I fixed a plumbing issue I have needed to fix so while I had the Model A out of the way I fixed the plumbing issue I took the Model A for a ride.

Found a little intel about WWII and its veterans. Did anyone know that over 16 million served in WWII, and right now there are less than 500,000 surviving. 9million served in Vietnam, with 2.6 million served within the country. 6.1 million veterans surviving. One of our saying's at the legion, "thank a Vet, it does you good"
