jbird72 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 So I understand that like half of us are still carburetors, but question, if anybody's running air gap manifold with a holly carb. Is there a fitting that anybody knows that will fit on that vacuum fitting underneath the carb? So I can run full manifold to the distributor I ordered one from summit. And it's a little over an eighth inch, too tall, I guess if I have to run a carb spacer, I could, but I really didn't want to I don't know if it would hurt or not any advice would be appreciated. 1 Quote
jbird72 Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Ill send. I ordered a 1 inch spacer. Just dont know bout hood clearence..dont wanna use drop down air cleaner. So that vacumn acess is right under accel pump arm. I dont think i have a choice 1 Quote
jft69z Posted May 28 Posted May 28 If there's a vacuum cap on that carb fitting now, a hose should just slip in place of it, unless I'm not seeing it? If its the larger fitting, like for a PCV hose, just use a reducer fitting. You could probably make something work with the fittings below: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-47308-Vacuum-Tubing-Connector/dp/B002H9DD7Y more Dorman adapter fittings 1 Quote

Still too tall. I dont wanna run vacumn for distributor off of carb i wanna run off manifold theres 50/50 on this but i wanna try and see difference 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted May 28 Posted May 28 The taller the spacer, the straighter the air flow, which helps at higher RPM's..... The whole theory behind a tunnel ram. but I don't think there's a lot of difference between 1/2" and 1"... 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted May 28 Posted May 28 The one thing I wonder about is using an outlet that close to one cylinder...... Something closer to a central location would give a minutely better balanced vacuum flow. Probably doesn't make that much of a difference, but it would be interesting to know. 1 Quote

I had to use a spaced bottom pan to clear the acc. pump on my Edelbrock, so I just used a shorter filter to get clearance. 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Nope... It's only a 3"..... Just looks bigger with the right background. Wish I had a better pic of the base plate... It adds about an inch of height to the whole thing. Makes it easier to get at the adjustments on the carb. 1 Quote
