I even went so far as to price the fabric out at a local fabric store. But figured by the time I cut it out, located all the clip holes, and made one, the price wasn't really any cheaper than ordering one.................

The taller the spacer, the straighter the air flow, which helps at higher RPM's..... The whole theory behind a tunnel ram.  ;)

but I don't think there's a lot of difference between 1/2" and 1"...

1/2 inch.

I have a 1" spacer with my 750 Holley ,and a speedmaster air gap on my BBC, no issue with air cleaner .low base, twin snorkel style. 3" air filter. The reason for the spacer? Pheobolic, keeps engine temp. off carb base. You can get these in 1/2" also.

I see opgi has it for 36 bucks. 67 shipping. Ugg

You will find that many of us are not fans of OPGI. Mainly because they backorder most parts, with no arrival time) and shipping is outrageous.

Just remember to keep an eye on the cleaner stud....

That "dimple" in the middle of the hood stands out like a sore thumb.

I have only been purchasing from OPGI for the last 2 years, but have not had any issues. When they quote you a ridiculous shipping  price check to see your shipping options. The USPS is usually much more reasonable.

i have a 1 inch spacer (phenolic) holley carb no fitment problems. if you are worried about air cleaner clearance go to dollar store buy some play dough put on top of air cleaner and close hood with air cleaner stud removed. worked for me

I've found that there's always an added fee using USPS.... Probably a "Canadian" thing. ;)
