For those of you who have installed an amp in the trunk of your Monte Carlo, where did you mount the amp at - on the floor directly behind the rear seat divider, or on the divider itself?

Make sure that the amp will run tipped over like it would be on the divider, some of them lose cooling effectiveness if they're past perfectly vertical. A speaker amp probably won't get hot enough for it to be an issue, but it's something to keep in mind.

Mine is on the divider. I made an aluminum plate to mount it.

Some manufacturers say it’s ok to mount their amplifiers vertically or even upside down but only if the amplifier has an internal fan due to heat issues. Some manufacturers don’t want their amplifiers mounted vertically or upside down even with a fan.So it really depends on the internal fan and what manufacturer/ amplifier you are using.

I started with mine on the divider, but then made a shelf behind the RH rear seat so I can adjust it without too much trouble. Its a 4 channel amp so lots of tweaks are available

I hid mine behind the driver back seat armrest area.  This was the only photo I could find.  I added some rivnuts to securely mount it as shown.  If I have issues, it won't be fun, but I didn't want it visible.  So far so good.  FYI - My battery is in the trunk so it was easy to get power.

Mine is a smaller Alpine unit..... 45 amps.

But it fit nicely on the firewall behind the stereo.

Having also used an Alpine deck, all the controls for the amp are in the head unit, so no need to adjust at the unit.

(hehehehe.... He said "unit"..... hehehehe.)

Quoted from B-vis & B-head.  ;)

I'll be installing mine under the drivers seat. I want to be able to access it for tuning.
