jbird72 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 So as a couple of you guys know and other threads, i'm working with this motor i'm building, and I have a chance to put this on a dyno for 400Β hundred bucks. I know will run perfect and can see excacly what i got ..i really wanted to tune it all myself then bring into roller dyno. But as long as motors out ..might as well ..that way if sonethin wrong its out of car any thoughts ..btw guy builds racing motors knows his s^$,t 4 Quote
420ponies Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Anytime you can get time on a dyno is like eating ice cream.... Awesome! Go for it!! That way, drop it back in, fire it up and ready to go! I'm going to do a chassis dyno with mine. Just waiting on the right time. It's all timing with these guys. Always busy. I'll get my chance, could be after the summer. 5 Quote
DragCat Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I'd say money well spent if you do it. They should be able to tweak it for what your intended driving scenario isΒ 3 Quote

Montemedic Posted June 12 Posted June 12 It not always about the numbers. Just to set it up and run it for a while is good too. Now is the time to see if you or the engine builder has any defective parts before you install it. Any leaks, soft camshaft lobes or cam issues, rockers, lifters, usually appear on the stand. That is the time to find out. Well worth the money instead of doing double work. But, hopefully the numbers are where you want to be. My 2 cents.Β 1 Quote

And I'm now I'm dealing with a different one. I don't want this to be a two time thing, but everything I do in life.I always have to do twice. It's a curse it's weird 1 Quote

72 Monte Carlo Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Do it! The dyno runs give you your gross HP and torque of your engine on a stand, but like you said, it will be easier to tune and modify it while on the engine stand, vs in the car.Β Then you can subtract 20% to get your net HP and torque at the rear wheels. Peace of mind knowing what your engine has, and that it should be running the best it can until you decide to upgrade or modify something on it later on down the road. Β Β 1 Quote
