TheBMan Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Hey guys, any tips on removing the front section of the parking brake cable between the pedal and where it goes through the frame? I understand the cage lock at the top of the footwell but the rest seems to be a stiff little bugger with difficult access. Quote
GRAY 70 Monte Carlo Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Here is how we did it . First disconnect cable from the emergency brake pedal. Second we used a heater hose clamp and looped it around the cable slide it down around the 3 prong clamp tighten the clamp tighten hose clamp to compress prongs letting the cable drop down loosen and remove hose clamp. Third loosen the rear of the left fender liner or completely remove it ( might be easier). Fourth remove retaining clip on the inside of frame ( the side by bell housing) then pull cable from car. 3 Quote
FrankOC Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Like Greg, I removed the inner fender to get full access. I was able to use a deep socket on that lock through the floor. From there it is muscling it out. I found when installing the new cable that it is difficult to get that lock fully through the floor again but hooking the cable to the ebrake then stepping on it pulled it into position. 4 Quote
420ponies Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Why didn't anyone let me know? I did the exact same thing. My inner panel is painted now. Talk about nervous taking it back loose, but now that new one is in, along with the intermediate cable. All good now! 2 Quote

Excellent tip re: connect the cable and apply the brake. I'll do that when I install the new cables! Quote
