Tilt Column Question

Hey Everyone!

Does anyone know if a tilt column out of a 1969 Caprice would fit in the Monte? I can get a good deal on it, but not a good deal if it won't fit. 😄

I’m not 100 percent sure but I think it is too long.

Yea that's what I was thinking too, but it caught my eye because it has the same steering wheel.

Right.  To long. Although the parts from it could be used. If you have an A body column shift Tilt. The floor shift collar can be used, same thing.

Thanks Jared, yea I have a non-tilt column, and want a tilt someday. Thought I may have lucked out! Dang it!

Jared probably has one lying around somewhere.... Probably even the right colour too. 

If not, just place an ad in the parts forum. I'm sure you'll be able to get one from someone here.

Yea i just got excited because it was cheap and a 1/2 hour from me, so I figured if it would work I should scoop it up! 😎

A word of caution, be carefull with used columns.  The tilt column on my 70 would not allow the ignition switch to engage the starter.  I spent about $700 with shipping to have the column rebuilt. I missed taking my Monte Carlo to the NW Meet of the VCCA because of the failure last year.  There are over 70 pieces to the column and it can be diffucult to find them.
