and brought home this 2026 Chevrolet Trail Blazer RS.  It is a real sweet ride.  Not as large is our Denali but wanted something smaller and more fuel efficient  and wanted to buy before the tarrifs kicked in raising the prices.

Ron, For someone as old as you and me a 2000 model would seem new... You do notice that I didn't end that at "as old as you" right"

My sister bought one that looks just like that last fall.

She loves it...... Except for the seat belts. They were designed by a contortionist.

Yeah, I have my opinion on older vehicles.  They were better when they didn't have all this newer stuff on them.  I think older vehicles were built better way back when.  Our Monte's are now over 50 years old, can you imagine how many 2025/2026 cars will be around in 50 to 55 years???

I have always kept my vehicles in good mechanical order, replacing things as needed, fluid changes, tire rotations etc at or before their scheduled maintenance dates and our Terrain Denali was no different and even with that there were a number of items going south at the same time.  Issues with the transmission, rear control arms, etc.  The tires were going to need to be replaced soon and state inspection was coming due next month.  It had a history of warping front rotors and no matter what I did or the dealer had tired would correct that.  Seems the warpage was mostly happening on the driver side.  I thought it may be the calipers and replaced them with new GM parts because the dealer said they felt it was the calipers hanging up.  I also replaced the flexible hoses.  It was going to need new pads and calipers on the front again.

When I weighed everything I was going to have to put into it to pass inspection we decided to go with a new car before the tariff's kick in, plus we wanted better gas milage because most of our driving was around town and the Terrain, even though I liked the highway mileage, it really sucked around town.

Carl,

Yes, I did know that ahead of time and when I first started looking that was a major concern but I put in a few days of research into that.  I read reviews and found the majority to be very good.  One of my concerns was would the 3-cyl in a small SUV be able to get out of its own way on a highway entrance ramp but that little 3-cyl turbo scored well on my test drive.

So far, the main thing I have not figured out how to correct is it recognizes my phone as soon as I get into the car and starts playing tunes I have on my phone and if I turn off my phone blue-tooth, the dam n  car turns it back on and starts to play some Lynyrd Skynyrd.

We have not had any issues with the seat belts so we are good there.
