Jason Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Procrastination wins again! Garage floor was really dusty, but noticed this on the tires. Maybe I need an alignment check, what do you think? Tires have 10,000 miles 2 Quote
stangeba Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Here is something you can review prior to having an alignment. This is from "MUSCLECAR REVIEW" Feb 1990. Click this link: https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/2023/08/30/front-end-alignment-information-2/ 3 Quote
Scott S. Posted July 18 Posted July 18 How are your tire pressures ? What kind of driving are you doing ? Cornering with lower pressure can wear the edges a bit. 1 Quote

I run 28 psi. Mostly highway. Just finished 2500 mile trip from the western meet i took the winding mountain roads a little quick maybe that scrubbed them 2 Quote
GRAY 70 Monte Carlo Posted July 19 Posted July 19 As Scott posted lower air pressure wears outside of tires over inflated wears the center of tires might try increasing pressure one to two pounds 2 Quote

Scott S. Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I run mine at about 34 psi. But most of my driving is straight highway. Not many curves in the Q.E.2..... 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Hey Jason, just a quick question. Are you running 8" wheels on the front ? Quote
Jason Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 19 hours ago, Scott S. said: Hey Jason, just a quick question. Are you running 8" wheels on the front ? No still on the 7 inch. Would like to go to the 8 inch though since the range for those tires is 7 to 8.5 wide Quote
Scott S. Posted July 22 Posted July 22 That's the main reason I went with the 225's on the front..... They're on 7" wheels. Putting a 245 on a 7" wheel "balloons" the sidewall, that might cause more flex on it when cornering. And that could be a factor on you wear pattern. Just a thought. 2 Quote

Yes agreed 8 inch would be better. Just got back from the alignment shop and the total toe was 0.01” so they set it to 0.10 total 2 Quote
