Reassembling my front end and I’m wondering how to determine the left from right steering knuckles behind the spindle. Can someone show the correct position and how to tell left from right?

thanks in advance!

@Jackaroo, I just a few minutes ago posted in my suspension upgrade thread.  I have a few photos of my 72 front suspension (unmolested) in there, which may prove useful to you?

Set them against the spindles and the hole for the tie rod will point in to the center of the car.

Thank you! This did help and is appreciated. Your picture brought up another issue. A bunch of sources say for reinstallation, the backing plate goes onto the spindle before the caliper bracket. Mine only assembles with the caliper bracket first. Any thought on this?

You have it right. Those tabs at the top bolt are supposed to fold over, to lock the bolt from turning.
