72 Monte Carlo Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Since I'm having an issue with getting a 4"x6" speaker to fit between the back side of the instrument cluster and the cowl, I decided to buy a brand-new set of Custom Autosound black panels with 6-1/2" 100w speakers. If I don't like the speakers, then I already have a nice set of DBMOTO 6-1/2" loud speakers to install in them. I'm going to dial in the amp with my multimeter once it's mounted in the trunk. I'll find the frequency range for the speakers and dial that in, and then find the voltage requirement for the amp/speakers so I dial in the gain precisely to minimize any clipping happening from the speakers/crossover. I listed to 3-1/2" round coaxial speakers for the dash and 6-1/2" speakers on the Crutchfield website, and the 3-1/2" speakers sound okay, but you definitely notice the better acoustic sound and volume from the bigger speakers, which is to be expected though. 5 Quote
DragCat Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Just be careful with kick panel speakers and your parking brake pedal . Can't go wrong with ordering from Crutchfield 🤘 4 Quote
cbolt Posted July 25 Posted July 25 The custom autosound kick panels with the speakers installed fit well and do not interfere with the parking brake pedal. I have them, but do not like the sound. Crutchfield should have a suitable upgrade. Personally, I use onlinecarstereo.com for audio add-ons. 3 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted July 25 Author Posted July 25 The speakers sit towards the bottom of the kick panels, and like cbolt said, I don't think they will interfere with the parking brake pedal. When I get them installed, if I don't like the sound, I'll just install the DBMOTO loudspeakers or a set of MMats PA601cx speakers. I have the MMats on my Harley with a 700w 4 channel amp, and they sound awesome. 3 Quote
Scott S. Posted July 25 Posted July 25 i know it's not popular, but seeing as the P.O. had already cut the holes, I upgraded the front speakers in the kick panels of the doors. Sound quality isn't to bad.... And as mentioned in a post here a while ago, feet don't hear that well anyways. 1 Quote

BobW Posted July 26 Posted July 26 When I installed the Kicker kick panel speakers, I added a set of Alpine tweeters in the dash. I don't hear well to begin with, but these helped quite a bit. 3 1 Quote

420ponies Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Now that, is sharp. That color combo grows on you as your looking at the car. Those wheels set it off! And I am really not a fan of green. My Monte was green when I bought it. Can't believe someone would pay it green , when it came Mulsanne Blue from the factory. 3 Quote
Dtret Posted July 27 Posted July 27 It’s all photoshop. lol. Just kidding. I seen it live and in person. He opened the hood once to prove it had an engine. 🤗 2 2 Quote

Green wasn't even on my radar when I started shopping for an SS. But like I tell people, make a list of what you want , priorities, negotiables. It had everything I wanted, and I'm ok with triple green 😁 3 Quote
