That depends on what kind of driving you're doing with it. I've had a Corvette style pan with a flapper in front of the oil pump (8qt pan), on the street('55 chevy pickup) , that also has a side baffle for road racing. If you're driving on the street, no need have a windage tray. No need for 6,500 rpm's. Now upwards of 7,500-9,000 rpm's ,definitely a tray. Road course 302 cu.in chevy., windage tray, 8 qt pan with baffle and trap door around oil pump. Shifting gears near the 10,000 range. average rpm (8,200-8,400),with only a 4speed. Now that's a class act! Vintage SCCA road course '68 Camaro. That pan you had on it seems to be your drag racing it?

Just a thought.....

If you're running those type of RPM's, you might want to consider a wingage tray while you've got the pan off.

Well now had to replace springs and valves..gettin there tho

Not really. Just figured as long as motors out and now compleately different. A couple bucks more do it now. Never know in future ynow..i dont want to do this again.  This all started with a carb change and simple timing prolly wont shift over 6200 just nice to know i could🤪

Similar theory with my 200r4.

It's built to take 750-800 hp, but I'm only running around 350 horses.

But you never know. ;)

Ok scott so maybe is a cursed block. Warming it up doin break in on dyno. 3 times of course all three inbetween and waiting for motor goto cold then warm up. Prolly 6ish hours. Motor shows decent power at 3900 rpm thats all weve done so far started at 354 hp and 418 tq and by 3rd run 3900 still is now at 380 and 438 tq. Should be a decent motor timing at 35 right now carb still not adjusted ..so should be better than 355. But heres the cursed block deal..we soaked and cleaned out the block of course before build lots of rust came out turns out that build up was sealing 2 small pin holes. So the water jacket is leaking  fml...still movin on tommorow should be broken in enough to see what she does...proper timing...carb..maybe cam..adjustment. so thinkin can weld or use that block putty [censored] and do all the bottom if doesnt work gonna have to get new block.  Could of had a bbc for money wouldnt of been a built one so well see

More fuel, or more air ???

Might think about a higher CFM carb.

Its 750 dp...i put 850 qf for giggles my buddies got like 7 more hp.and 8 ish lbs tq more. Nothin real noticable  in car. So gonna stay with 750 i think. It was also in a controlled environment with humidity. So on a cooler day, it might not matter

You run what you have on the street. They always do more on the dyno. It's the street that matters. Looks good to me running rich as you say, nothing wrong about that. Nice SBC!!

Yeah, I think I'm gonna stop fighting for one more horsepower. I think we're good if I go to the roller cam. It's gonna cost an extra 1000 bucks. I'm gonna have to take it apart and I think I'm okay with what I got. You know, it's a great street motor and at the strip, it might be kind of fun, just to kind of see what it will do

Years  ago I had a friend with a similar obsession to adding horsepower.

He finally decided the easiest route to go was to have multiple engines.

It was a '71 Mach 1, and for daily driving he had a 351 Cleveland in it.

But come Friday night, you could always find him in his Dad's shop, swapping in the Boss 429 for the weekend.

Come Sunday evening, he simply reversed the swap for the weekly driving.

The measures some guys will go to..... :k

Im done. Pretty happy with it out of car so far respectful with a flat tappet and iron heads...the 3500 stall  and 373 rear should pair nicely
