One limitation is that the seat can’t recline as it would interfere with the swivel movement. I have a 73 442 with swivels now and I love them. I'm with you . Those seats were awesome 1 Quote

72-CLASSIC_RIDE Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Right out of the Military I bought new a 1972 Plymouth 340 Duster. It had Bucket Sets, a Full Synchro 3 sp. on the floor and it was fast! I told everyone I bought a motor surrounded by Beer Cans! Ran the crap out of it and then sold it! Doug 3 Quote
Leghome Posted July 30 Posted July 30 First hot rod was a 61 impala bubble top redwith white top and red cloth interior. 283 with the power pack heads and four barrel, 3 speed on the floor. I went thru 4 clutches in 5 weeks and then put in a 7500lb racing clutch that when you pulled up to stop light if you sat the very long at all your left knee would start to shake. My first REAL 325hp 327(same motor the 66 350 horse novas had less the holly and added air pump for emissions) close ratio 4 speed 3:73 posi and AM/FM stereo with 8 track player hanging under the dash. Drove the Nova 22 months and sold it. The original tires were 7:35 14's and I got a whole 8800 mile out of them LOL. That little sucker would go sideways if I hit 3rd gear HARD 3 1 Quote

Glen Posted July 31 Posted July 31 My first car was a ‘67 Camaro. Purchased used by my parents in ‘68 for my Mom, driven by her til ‘78 and garaged til ‘87 when Dad and Uncle Ron rebuilt the motor, trans, brakes etc. using almost every last dollar I’d saved from odd jobs since I was 14 years old. I remember them tasking me with taking the gas tank to the car wash to power wash it out after they “appropriately discarded” the 9 year old varnish that was in it. I talked Dad into an aluminum intake and 4 barrel carb a few weeks later after I clocked the first 1,000 “break-in miles” Dad was no dummy… he tried to prolong the inevitable 🤣😂. I also purchased a set of completely repainted Chevelle SS wheels and new BFG’s (pictured on car) from a neighborhood guy for something like $300. Looked much better than the stock hubcaps for sure. Drove it daily thru spring of ‘92 when I treated myself to my first new car, a ‘92 Lumina Z/34 with a 5-speed when I graduated from the police academy. Sold her to a kid a few blocks down for $500. This is the only picture I have of it, circa summer of ‘88 after graduating high school…. 18 years old and 65 pounds ago 🤣😂. My high school bud Dan on the right and I started the police academy together and remain friends to this day. 11 Quote
