MI_Custumz Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Rather dumb question. My gas pedal spring on the back of the pedal itself was broken for who knows how long. The pin started to back out. What I found on the Internet is the spring goes into the pin notch (about the center of the pin) to hold it in the pedal. I got a new pedal, spring, and pin that arrived today. The spring on it now is on the right side and goes up and over the gas pedal rod. When I set this up, it appears the spring will have to be on the left to go up and over. Attached are pics of it set up on the right as the one in the car is now. On the right it appears the spring will hold the pin, but won’t go over the rod. Is the spring bent wrong or am I missing something? Both ends of the spring have to be up when installed, correct? The pin is tight in the spring, so doubt if it would back out anytime soon. Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I just changed my pedal pads with brand new ones. I'll look at mine this evening and take some pics of it. 1 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Adam, You have the spring in the correct direction. When you set it on the throttle pedal linkage rod, just pull the dog leg up and set it over across the linkage rod. In this photo, you can see the tail in the upper right corner, and then the dog leg comes over the linkage rod from the right side. 4 Quote
MI_Custumz Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 Thanks for the pic. However, the first pic I posted shows the spring on the passenger side like yours appears to be. If that's the case, the hook part will end up facing the wrong way. Unless I'm looking at it wrong. I will get to it over the next few weeks, work is busy and need to get to it when I can. I could try to flip the spring, but think it will do the same thing, but will tinker with it while out of the car to see if I can get it to look like yours. Quote
MI_Custumz Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 Got the pedal on. Spring had to go on the drivers side to have the spring hook over the pedal rod. Wasn’t bad at all, but still don’t think it’s the correct spring. Attached are the one that was broke and came off vs the new one. Quote
