Bigfeetny Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I have completed tear down. I was thinking of using rust encapsulator inside the door panels. There is some surface rust in there and was wondering what people think of treating it now that there is nothing in the interior. 6 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted August 7 Posted August 7 It couldn't hurt to apply it to the inside of the door themselves and the rear quarter panels too. It will neutralize what's there already and stop any more from forming inside those areas. 2 Quote

I think most people don't think about looking at the inside of the doors, rear quarter panels, or the front fenders and see if and how much surface rust can accumulate over a 50+ year time frame. I noticed very minor surface rust on the inside of my trunk and along the underside of the inside of the rear quarter panels. I hit all those areas with a rust reformer that turned it all into a black colored primer. 2 Quote
Bigfeetny Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 Thanks guys. I ordered some from eastwood, should be here Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I did the same thing on my pass side door. You may want to clean up the rust a bit before putting that stuff on. I have noticed some crusty looking stuff when I opened the pass door last year. So I think I'll probably have to do some further repair to it next time I have door off for anything. My pass door don't get used very often like just once a year at the nationals usually. Can't hurt to get rid of any rust. 3 Quote

Bigfeetny Posted August 9 Author Posted August 9 I put the original bench seat from my Chevelle in today just so I could sit in her when I needed to move her. Actually, the bench seat is pretty comfortable. I still want bucket seats, but the 68 Chevelle seats work for now. 4 Quote
