Scott S. Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Has anyone ever had a "dead spot" on their wiper motor ??? I've been toying around with mine (replaced motor, re wired) and sometimes it still won't operate. I read the article about taking the switch apart to clean it and was puttering around with it today. The pump runs, and I was figuring out how much of a task it would be to pull the switch when I simply pulled on the arm and everything started working. Operated the switch a few times, and everything seems fine. Maybe she's just being temperamental ??? Quote
cbolt Posted August 14 Posted August 14 When mine did that it turned out to be a bit of corrosion on the wiper transmission. The "ball" where the pivot happens needs to be grounded and the light corrosion prevented it from working all the time. 1 Quote
Scott S. Posted August 14 Author Posted August 14 Could be dirt.... ???? Like I mentioned, the wiper unit is new. I just replaced it last fall. Also cleaned all the workings. It almost seems like if it sits for a length of time without use, the arms slip lower and maybe open that contact ??? But once I start using them regularly, the problem goes away. Quote

Could be just another high quality part that the stores sell. Gotta buy 3 to get 1 good one. 1 Quote

It sucked explaining that to the dealership and getting it fixed. Not to mention the frustration of not getting my new car to start. 1 Quote
